I was up in Leeds weekend before last, visiting my sister, & my family & I
went to Salvo's Restaurant, 115 Otley Rd. (website
http://www.salvos.co.uk)
They have a reasonable selection of vegetarian food, & explicitly state that
one of their secondi piatti (they're an Italian restaurant) can be adapted for
vegans. I had that, but I expect they'd be prepared to do things like
cheeseless pizzas, vegan variations on their pasta where necessary, etc. I
was particularly impressed that when the waitress brought our side vegetables
out, she stopped and went back to the kitchen to check that mine didn't have
butter on, without my even asking (they didn't).
And the food was *gorgeous*! (my omnivore family agreed with this assessment
as well. As well as being vegan-friendly, they were also generally friendly.
We showed up late in the evening, after my sister's concert, and didn't leave
till around midnight, & despite being last in the place we never got the
impression that they were impatient for us to go.
I asked for their card & told them I'd recommend them as vegan-friendly, on
the grounds that if people make an effort you should try your best to reward
it! So - anyone in Leeds, Salvo's is *well* worth a visit.
