Captain Kimmorley signs for 5

CRONULLA has confirmed it has re-signed star halfback Brett Kimmorley for
the next five National Rugby League seasons.
Kimmorley will also assume the captaincy from fullback David Peachey after
agreeing to a deal believed to be worth $1.5 million.
Kimmorley had been locked in a management dispute that was preventing the
former Test half from re-signing with the Sharks until this week.
The 26-year-old will take the captaincy reins from Peachey, who has been the
Sharks' leader since club legend Andrew Ettingshausen retired at the end of
the 1999 season.

Peach stepped down from the captaincy. I don't see any other ideal
candidates for the job.

Peachey to quit as Sharks captain

INSPIRATIONAL fullback David Peachey will stun the Cronulla club by standing
down as captain tomorrow.
Star halfback Brett Kimmorley, who The Daily Telegraph revealed on Saturday
is poised to sign a five-year deal with the club, will take over the reins.
Peachey has done a superb job as Sharks captain since the retirement of
Andrew Ettingshausen at the end of the 2000 season.
But a fortnight ago, Peachey informed coach Chris Anderson he wanted to
spend more time on other issues, specifically his off-field work helping
young Aboriginal children.
A tight-lipped Anderson refused to comment on the situation yesterday, other
than saying of Peachey's captaincy: "I haven't got a problem."
Peachey, who led Cronulla into last year's NRL finals, was unavailable for
comment.
Kimmorley will tomorrow sign a five-year contract worth $1.5million.
With his brilliant skills and organisational ability, Kimmorley shapes a
natural leader for the club.

I'm curious. Has there ever been any Rugby League news posted here that you

Peach wants a championship and if Kimmorley's the captain that's fine by him.
