Can anyone please help. I want to use excel as data for a mail merge
document, however on of the fields is a photo. Can I link a photo file
to the excell field so it fills the merge document with the photo.

Many Thanks

1. In Excel, include the full path to the picture, and use double
slashes, e.g.: c:\\Data\\myphoto.jpg

2. In Word, use the Insert Merge Field menu to insert all the merge
fields in the Main Document, including the photo field.

3. To view the field codes, press Alt+F9

4. Position the cursor outside the photo field brackets.

5. To insert a new set of field brackets, press Ctrl+F9

6. Inside the brackets, type INCLUDEPICTURE ""

7. Select the photo field, including the field brackets.

8. Drag the photo field inside the quotation marks, e.g.:
{ INCLUDEPICTURE "{MERGEFIELD Photo}" }

9. To hide the field codes, press Alt +F9

10. Save the main document, and merge to a new document.

11. In the new document, press Ctrl+A to select all.

12. Press F9 to update the fields.

As you scroll through the document, you should see the merged data,
including the pictures.

Hi Peter,
Basically same as Debra but with pictorial examples of Excel spreadsheet,
and resulting word document as a picture catalog, with a little more explanation.

What do you mean by "fills the merge document with a photo", do
you perhaps mean like a watermark background for each page.

The first of the following appears to be working now.
