I heard about how in the 60's Ali did a computer fight with Marciano where
he and Marciano got in the ring and acted out the results of a computer
simulation as though it were an actual fight. In other words they were just
acting and the punches were not real. By the way though I have seen a tape of
this fight on sale but thats another post.
I do not see why with all our new technology and how wonderful movies can
be made to look like a fighter does not go about trying to do that again. I
think that Ali should try to have another computer fight like he did with
Marciano. I know on the surface it seems rather funny however if you remember
before Roy Jones JR fought Montell Griffin he met Ali and a lot of people in
this newsgroup commented on how well Ali looked when he was bouncing up and
down in the right with Roy Jones. Basicly, in my opinion I think he can at
least LOOK like he can still fight even with parkinsons.
Now the next question would be who would do this with? Who would
be the computer opponent? My answer to this question would be Larry Holmes and
I will tell you why. When Ali fought Holmes in 80 it was sad not only because
Ali was older but because if everyone knew that if Ali had fought him say 15
years earlier it would have been a different fight.
I think it would be great if they did this just have the computer fight
on pay per view get a bunch of modern day special affects experts. Then sell
the fight for charity and have it be a fundraiser. Afterwards, give the money
they make from the fight to the people affected by the Sept 11 terrorist
attack. What do you all think?
