Pangborn also claims to have served in the Air Force. But a check of DoD
public records shows no record of him ever having served in any of the Armed
Forces. In my opinion this is a slap in the face to every man or woman who
ever carried a gun in defense of this country.

I managed to serve in the Air Force. AFSN AF 16-631-305, DD-217 on file
in St. Louis. And available for fax to end the bullshit here from Mr. Moore.

Mr. Moore, *MY* Discharge from the Air Force was "HONORABLE UNDER HONORABLE
CONDITIONS" but I am sure you wouldn't tell THIS assemblage that YOUR discharge
from the Marine Corps was under conditions LESS than
honorable, now would you? It might give the folks a peek inside your head.

As I said, Pangborn, what was the date of this "less than honorable" discharge?
And what is my service number? And my middle name? All of these things would be
attached to such information, and you should be able to easily provide them?

The answer is, you can't. You're a pathetic liar. You proved it in another
newsgroup, when you referred to the city of Schaumburg, Illinois, as "dumpy little
town with some rather shabby little trailer parks". It was then pointed out, with
documentation to back it up, that Schaumburg is actually a teeming business
community, with an average household income of more than $70000 annually, average
housing costs above $150000, and NO trailer parks. You were lying. You don't know
the first thing about Chicago, Schaumburg, Milwaukee, or any of the other
newsgroups you flame. And you obviously don't know the first thing about my
military background.

Pa...@aol.com, I'd like to see you get out of this newsgroup. This is a group for
veterans of our Armed Forces to share our experiences. You come here for flaming
and one-upmanship. I'd like to see you leave, but I know you won't. You've been
flaming other newsgroups like milw.general, alt.psychology and soc.men for months
on end.

Those of you here who feel the same as I do, I would suggest sending a complaint to
stev...@aol.com, the president of Pangborn's ISP. Attach copies of some of his
more vulgar, tasteless posts.

Some people have criticized others for posting under the "anonymous" replay
address. Although I use "nob...@replay.com", I am not the only one who uses it. I
did not make the post which Ken claims I did, above. I use "anonymous", not
because I'm too afraid to use my own name, but because Ken Pangborn and others have
gone to great lengths to harass me offline using information they gleaned about me
from my usenet posts. A friend of Pangborn harassed me via my employer, and a
female friend of his actually travelled 2500 miles to stalk my family. That's why
this message is thru anonymous. But make no mistake about it--My name is David
Moore, and I'm a veteran.

The Air Force stopped using 8 digit Serial numbers(mine was AF 15 381 611)
in the early 50s or real early 60s and started to use ones SS# and retired

Perhsps you faileed to read mjy date of enlistment. 3 Mar 1959,
and I ASSURE you that as of the date of my discharge they were STILL using the
serial numbers. 2 mar 1965. They changed to SS numbers but not till well into
the VN war or after its end. I think
the change came in the 70's.

Yes IF one is an IDIOT! In poi nt of fact the 8 digit serial numbers continued
through most of the Viet Nam war and ended in the 1970's when the VOLUNTEER
military came in and the draft was abandoned. But you ARE getting desperate
aren't
you Mr. Moore?

Not to get in the middle of this, but the Army and Air Force changed to
SSAN's in May, 1969.

David is telling the truth. You have all seen the other harassment on this
news group (just ask Roger what HE'S been through). None of you should hold it
against David for posting through a remailer considering everything that his
family has been through. My family, also, has suffered at the hands of one of
David's tormentors, so much, in fact, that we finally had to report it to the
authorities.

David fax'd us his discharge papers last night and my husband and I are
willing to stand by anything he says. He speaks the truth about his military
experience and his honorable discharge. David Moore served two tours of duty,
received an honorable discharge and is a good man.

Several people have testified that Pangborn does excellent work for men who are
falsely accused. I believe them. But what confused me was that this, and the
person who flames the usenet with thousands of hateful posts, are the same
person. They're like night and day.

Today, I feel that Ken Pangborn crossed the line. He has been posting untruths
about my military service. He claims that he looked me up, and that I was
dishonorably discharged from the Marine Corps under Section 8 (mentally unfit).
This is untrue, as I served 7 years in the Corps and was honorably discharged.
Anyway, today Ken posted my social security number in the newsgroups. I feel
that this is a violation of my privacy. I am also looking into whether or not
this is
an illegal act.

I just can't see the connection between Ken Pangborn, men's activist, and
pa...@aol.com, internet flamer. Could someone else be doing his internet
posting for him? A wife or brother, perhaps? I don't understand it.

But it is nice to see you so hysterical SCREAMING for people to help you

My question:

What the hell is a DD Fm 217? I just retired and would like to know if I need
one. After all, all I got was a DD Form 214. Oh and sorry bub, the use of the
serial number went out in the early 60's. My dad was 20 years AF.

The serial numbers were still in use until 1969!
At that time, one's dogtag contained both the serial number and the SS

They were not even talking about switching to SS #'s when I got out in

In point of fact, the Air Force used its own numbers "AF Service
Number" until July 1969 when we converted to use of the Social Security
number. The Service Numbers were preceeded by "AF" for enlisted and
were 8 digits. I don't know about the Commissioned Officers. After July
1969 the SSAN was preceeded by "FR" for Regular AF and "FV" for Air
Force Reserve for enlisted personnel. Commissioned Officers SSANs were
suffixed with the same characters.

That was because you were on active duty when the conversion was made and
those who came in after the conversion would only use the SSAN. I got out in
Jan70 and had both numbers and when I came back in the Army at the end of
Feb70(yes I couldn't make it on the outside even if it was only for one month)
I only had the SSAN. I have an old award order (GO 80 dated 17Nov69)and it
only shows my SSAN. Also have an assignment order dated 11Jul69 and it only
shows my SSAN. The last order I have that shows a serial number is dated
19Jun69. My old DA 2139 Military Pay voucher for 1-30Jun69 shows both SSAN and
serial number and the one for 1-31Jul69 shows only the SSAN. Therefor I
conclude the switch was made on 1 Jul 69. Have copies of every piece of paper
the Army every gave me that had my name on it from 20Jan67 to 1Apr93. Does any
one else have anything different and proof that it was another date. By the
way my old serial number was RA 15 806 331.

Numbers, numbers, who has the numbers? For what it's worth, I was
discharged from the Navy in Aug 70 and my DD214 shows my service number
behind door number 2 and my Soc Sec number behind door number 3.

Something else I noticed while typing this, Box 10-A shows my Selective
Service Number. The word "lottery" meant something completely different
back then.

Hey Perry

You are right..the change went into affect in May of 1969. All
inductees entering service after May 31 of that year were assigned
their SSN as a service number. Anyone who had been assigned a service
number prior to that continued to use it for a long time until they
managed to convert all CURRENT members at the time, to their SSN. I
vaguely remember also something about members who had been assigned
service numbers being given the option of continuing to use their old
service number while on active duty, if they wished. Not sure if this
is something that actually happened or if it was something that was
under discussion at that time.
Those that had been already discharged kept their assigned service
number.

While not absolutly sure I believe all the services changed over at the
same time. That was in 1969.

I don't know what you consider "early" 60's, but when I joined up in 1963, I
was issued a genuine, U S Gummint-inspected, 8-digit serial number. I remember
that I didn't start using my SSN until quite a bit after I re-enlisted for the
first time, so that would make it at least 1969-70 before we started using
SSN's exclusively.

The change to ss numbers was in late 1967. I dont know the date but i enlisted in
sept 1967 and we were still using s/n then while still in basic trng it was changed
to ss #'s probably in nov 1967 or close.

Judge not.....after reading these warm and friendly posts it makes me
wonder how we,the American People, ever were able to win a war.Any war
for that matter. This NG is absolutely overflowing with a sense of
"brotherhood" and "comraderie."And for good measure there`s a
wonderful, warm, little hint of racism thrown in.

We Americans don`t have any "official" enemies anymore so we have turned
inward and resorted to attacking each other. It`s going to be a mighty
fine kettle of fish if we have to go into another armed conflict with
everybody at each others throats.

Ladies and Gentlemen,HATRED,is a strong and crippling word. When you are
consumed with hatred your "enemy" is in actuality, the victor! Don`t let
this negativity consume your lives.Move on,upward and out into the
sunshine.Life is too short to dwell on all these absurdities.

As an American, I am saddenned, daily,by all this bickering and name
calling we are doing. We have such a WONDERFUL country. Why can`t we act
like it and settle our differences without trying to harm our
neighbours.Let us show the world we are GREAT! (As we so often say we
are!)

Is it absolutely essential that we hate someone because they don`t
happen to agree with us? Are they not entitled to their own opinions,as
we are?

Sometimes in the heat of anger I find myself slipping into this rut.But
after I`ve thought it over I decide that life after all is too short and
tough to go around looking for a problem or trying to manufacture
one. There are certain people in this world who are not content unless
they have constant turmoil. They can`t function without it.Pray for those
who would spitefully use you!

I think I can answer that question. The person who started the thread, Ken
Pangborn, is not a veteran. He fled to Canada to avoid Vietnam....

Mr. Moore you are a lying chickenshit little no-dick wonder.
I'll match MY service record against YOURS any day of the week. AT least I
didn't have to ask to get MY discharge changed!!!!!!!!! When I left my
discharge was "Honorable" and
kiddo, with numerous commendations from commanders all the way up to Generals.

Hey Guys:
It`s History! Whether Mr.Pangborn fled to
Canada or not.....it`s over and done.We
cannot bring back the past.Let us just say
that whatever decision he made he is the
one who must live with that decision.Day
in and day out he must live with himself,
twenty four hours a day.He must be
content with himself and enjoy his own
company.Only he could have made those
decisions. No one could do it for him.

Forgiveness is the key to this whole
situation.Or shall we go on becoming
more and more bitter every day until
eventually this bitterness shall manifest
itself in the form of illness?

Speaking of fleeing the country just how
many of our good citizens fled the country
during our American Revolution? I think I
can find some of my relatives in Bermuda
and Canada. And how about the Civil
War? I know of one incident during the
Civil War where a man served in the
Confederate Army and went home. (It was
not made clear if he was a deserter.)Later
he decided he was on the wrong side and
he was thinking of joining up with the
USA.Apparently he expressed his views
and he was hanged by the Confederates
before he could join up.There are other
instances where people with money paid
people to serve for them!(Naturally, this was perfectly "legal".)

So,going to Canada to avoid various
conflicts in this country is nothing
new.History is merely repeating itself.
