Hi kids,

I am recently receiving the following error messages when
booting up in ME:

Cmesys has caused an error in <unknown>.
Cmesys will now close.
If you continue to experience problems, try restarting
you computer.

The next message to pop up is same, but Cmesys is
replaced with Ccapps.

If possible, please reply to my email address; I never
seem to be able to find a reply to my queries amongst the
myriad answers.

Thanks,

Bill

Any ideas?

Dell 933Mhz PC, 256MB RAM.

Hi Mart,

I've downloaded the app; nice little machine.
Any idea as to what tool I use to search this out, I.E.
where I should be looking for spyware?

Thanks,

Bill

Hope you cleared it OK.

Couple of good (free) sites to look at to 'watch' for spyware are:-
Ad-Aware 6.0 from Lavasoft
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
and SpyBot
http://security.kolla.de/

Mart- do you use any of their software?

No Noel, just did a search for cmesys on Google and 1st hit was that URL.

Anything I should know?

Just wondered....
went to the link and thought I'd have a nose - spotted the snake-oil
department (windows memory manager) in their 'speedupmypc' software, and
decided I'd seen enough.

Thanks for the follow-up Noel, Mmm... know what you mean, squire .-) But
it was purely a search to confirm my suspicions of spyware. It was not meant
as an endorsement <g>

Although I posted the LavaSoft and Spybot sites in my second reply, I still
rely on AdShield as my 'bouncer'. AFAIK, it has kept all the little
perishers out my box <g>

I'd love to use AdShield - but it used to conflict with GetRight, and that's
one thing I can't live without!
After a day at the PC nowadays, I run AdAware, and usually end up with
half-a-dozen cookies. If they keep recurring, then they get added to the
privacy settings. Very rare to get anything more, unless I do it
deliberately.
