How do you deal with media assets? Uploading/retrieving...

That's a good question.

A summer of code student is currently working on a proposal to abstract
the file storage, so that Zotonic no longer needs to depend on the local
file system:

I now use Amazon EC2, which is a little bit more work to set up but gives more flexibility.
