Hope that you are having a good day and keeping dry.

National Dance Week is almost upon us and I wanted to remind everyone
to come out and celebrate with Zohar!

Saturday, April 21
Zohar will be presenting a free performance at its studio at 1:30pm
We will be performing jazz, modern and maybe a musical theater and tap
piece!
Also performing will be children that we teach at Encinal, Laurel and
Keys School.

Following Zohar's performance, we will be heading over to Western
Ballet to participate in their National Dance Week performance.
We will be performing three pieces, starting around 3:00pm.
Schindler's List by Ehud Krauss and Inner Man and Thunder by Daynee
Lai-Krauss.

Sunday, April 22
sjDANCEco presents their Dance Festival at Santana Row (Valencia Park,
located in front of Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant)
The event runs from 10am-3pm and Zohar will be performing in the first
hour. At 10:05am and 11:05am. Times are approximate depending upon how
on schedule everyone is. There will be over 40 groups performing, so
make the trek over and enjoy the day.

June Workshop
Donna Scheer will be teaching a Theater Dance class on Mondays in June
from 6:00-7:30pm and an open Jazz class on Wednesdays from
6:00-7:30pm.

Donna was born and raised in the Bay Area and received her early
training from Berle Davis at Dance Arts Center, as well as at Santa
Clara University. She spent many years in New York continuing her
training and working professionally before moving to Santa Fe, New
Mexico. She is pleased to be able to return to the Bay Area this
summer and teach for Zohar while she directs and choreographs the
Fosse musical Chicago for City Lights Theatre in San Jose.

Donna's Theatre Dance class will explore several styles, ranging from
Robbins to Bennett to Fosse, in a fun and encouraging environment.
This class is perfect for the singer/actor who wants to improve their
"cast-ability" by strengthening their dance technique, including the
ability to learn quickly for the audition situation. Donna's
experience as a performer and choreographer includes musicals at
dozens of regional theatres across the country, including shows such
as West Side Story, Damn Yankees, Oklahoma, Pippin and many more. The
class will focus on a different style of theatre dance each week,
covering technique (including warmup), vocabulary, style, and
performance.

The Jazz class will explore a different style of movement each
Wednesday in June. Pulling from her diverse background in jazz,
modern, and musical theatre, Donna's infuses her passion for dance
into a variety of combinations in class, including contemporary,
concert and theatre jazz. Her warm up focuses on building strong
technique and the across-the-floor material in a progression that
supports the work in that week's combination. She focuses on putting
technique into motion to reach an artistic level of expression and
encourages her students to approach movement with technique, focus and
passion.

A flyer and additional information will be coming soon.
