Hi everyone!
I have been meaning to announce this for ages, but I'm kind of crap at
organising things, but I am now!
I've been working with Hazelhurst, which is the Sutherland Shire's
Regional Art Gallery(you know, the ones that are run by local councils
and have sometimes boring, sometimes actually amazing art shows!) a
zine fair which will also have a forum as well as workshops.
People who want to book a table can call 8536 5700(that's the
gallery's number). There will initially be spaces for 20 people(half
table spaces, if you need more, let em know), but if it fills up,
they'll take names, and organise more tables and get back to you. It's
going to be inside, tables are free and set up is at 9am(urgh!!!
Srsly, I've spoken to them about this, and told them that we are a
laaazy and or urban bunch, but they'd already published it, but come
when you want! We're autonomous publishers!!) in the foyer of the
gallery. It goes until 4pm.
The gallery is at Gymea, which is about a 40 minute train ride from
central, on the Cronulla line, and it's way close to the train
station, like a 5 minute walk. Or if you're driving, there's heaps of
parking in the gallery car park, or in the surrounding streets.
Regarding snacks, there is a fascist cafe at the gallery which is
alright, if expensive. The local shoppin streets have heaps of cafes
which actually have tasty snacks and there is a bottle shop near by,
for those of us who require fortification with social interaction.
Here's the copy n pastey info:
"Zine Fair with Forum
Saturday 7 March, Hazelhurst Foyer, 9.30am to 4pm.
Zines, short for fanzines, are DIY small circulation publications on
special interests. Held together with glue and staples, they offer low-
cost creative freedom. Zinesters, such as Miss Helen of Loftus, are a
sub cultural group who self publish. Zine fairs offer Zinesters an
opportunity to meet and trade or sell their products.
Forum Saturday 7 March @ 1pm
Hear Zinesters talk about Zine Mutiny and also art and literature
based zinemaking!
Zine Workshop for Young People (or the young at heart)

"
I'm still gathering folk for the forum, confirmed already is Lou T who
will be talking about her kick arse political/activist/personal zines,
but I've been lazy and not booked anyone else. If you want to be
involved on the panel or just want to do a bit of input casually re;
topics and stuff, pleeeease feel free to contact me. It will obviously
be a bit basic at the beginning to educate folks who are zine-curious,
but I want to do a bit more in depth stuff about community and shit
without pushing my own agendas. I'd love heaps of involvement by
everyone who is there, ideally. It will be as safe a space for
discussion as possible whilst interacting with people from outside our
communities.
Ok, so feel free to contact me or the gallery if you've got any
questions.
Tonnes of actual love,
Miss Helen of Loftus
