NOTES | Quote of the Week | "The important thing is not being afraid to take a chance. Remember, the greatest failure is to not try. Once you find something you love to do, be the best at doing it." Debbi Fields | Verse of the Week | “But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day.”

| Unleashing Entrepreneurship
| Progress would stop if it were not for the entrepreneurs. Entrepreneur see things not as they are but as they can be. They dreams of possibilities and meeting human and other needs in special and thrilling ways. Perhaps the greatest quality of entrepreneurs is that they dream and then take action. They know where they want to go and they get up and start going there regardless of the opinions of the environment. Sometimes, if not all the time, they meet obstacles along the way. Regardless, they are willing to be delayed but cannot be denied. They always find a way in, a way out or a way around. Sometimes they are opposed, but they are willing to let the ultimate opinion come not from naysayers but from their customers and beneficiaries. Entrepreneurs are willing to accept their sometimes lonely call and persevere in the face of it all. They may fail several times but they will never, ever let failure be final. Failure is always an event but never a destiny.
| It’s a Spirit Entrepreneurship is not a just business, an invention or even starting your “own thing.” Entrepreneurship is first of all a spirit that manifests in various domains of human engagement. It is an attitude that dares to challenge convention and question what has always been accepted as the norm. It is a mindset that challenges accepted beliefs. It is a hunger to create new realities and experiences. All entrepreneurship is steeped in dreams. Great dreams of possibilities that others do not see. It is an ability to dream new realities and ask why not? Without the spirit of the entrepreneur progress is stifled and growth ceases. The seed of all entrepreneurship is a vision. Once vision ceases, there is darkness all around and the end is near. It’s a Culture For entrepreneurship to take root it must become a culture. So long as people who create value are lampooned there will be no entrepreneurial progress. Entrepreneurs always inspire other entrepreneurs. Communities that have caught the entrepreneurial momentum are unstoppable and progress with unprecedented pace. Great leaders will always unleash the entrepreneurial spirit. Communities that are cynical and that frown on entrepreneurial ideas and ideals will forever be arrested by the past and will never rise beyond their lore of past greatness. Great things happen when entrepreneurs are given space to breed. The book, Start Up Nation is inspiring and challenging. It shows how the nation of Israel has created its entrepreneurial miracles. It is a books that any community of people that is serious about progress should study and take to heart. It’s a book that all community leaders should reflect upon. Any nation can start where it is as and create its own entrepreneurial miracle. Camping on the blame-game and victim-mentality will simply not create any new ideas or inspire any creativity beyond fashioning new begging bowls. Entrepreneurs refuse to think like victims or to be imprisoned by their past limitations. They pay attention to the future because that is where they know they will live. Past greatness will never compensate for today’s entrepreneurial penury. It Starts Here It is easy to think like a victim and to blame the blameworthy for our circumstances. It is easy to hide our lack of progress behind some credible excuses for which we can always manufacture support and sympathy. The only problems is that no amount of self-pity will ever transmute into entrepreneurial vision. For any change to come it starts with accepting, celebrating and using what we have. Entrepreneurship does not start with a resource but an idea. It starts with a possibility mindset. Until thinking changes, very little does. What we have is enough raw material to work with. Abundance is a mindset and perspective. It is a vision and a choice. In the midst of abundance some people see lack and depravation. Whatever we have is a seed that planted into the ground of entrepreneurial vision will create and birth miracles untold. Entrepreneurship starts with challenging ourselves and demanding more from ourselves than anyone can ever do. As long as we are satisfied with the current we will never move beyond. The challenge is never that we dream too big but that we dream too small and are too timid to challenge our limitations. The challenge is never that we go too far but that we retire from the journey when we are still in the departure lounge of life. It’s a Call Entrepreneurship is a call of destiny. We have to accept the call, else posterity will spit on our graves in contempt. We have to rise to the call of the our times and create with what we have, not what we wish we had. Entrepreneurs multiply the little that they are given. They change things and create resources and they are in demand in every sector of human existence. Entrepreneurship always goes beyond money, it covers every domain of life and it is a call that is open for everyone. It is a call to be more, do more and see more. It’s a call to tap into God’s abundant nature and manifest the nature of the creator. Will you answer this call? What difference are you committed to making? Where and when? Start Up Nation
START-UP NATION addresses the trillion dollar question: How is it that Israel-- a country of 7.1 million, only 60 years old, surrounded by enemies, in a constant state of war since its founding, with no natural resources-- produces more start-up companies than large, peaceful, and stable nations like Japan, China, India, Korea, Canada and the UK? With the savvy of foreign policy insiders, Senor and Singer examine the lessons of the country's adversity-driven culture, which flattens hierarchy and elevates informality-- all backed up by government policies focused on innovation. In a world where economies as diverse as Ireland, Singapore and Dubai have tried to re-create the "Israel effect", there are entrepreneurial lessons well worth noting. As America reboots its own economy and can-do spirit, there's never been a better time to look at this remarkable and resilient nation for some impressive, surprising clues.
