19th Ramzan 1432 A.H. - Shab-e-Zarbat of Imam Ali(a.s.) and first probable night of Qadr

As Salam-o-alaikum,

19th of Ramzan 1432 A.H. - Shab-e-zarbat of the commander of faithfuls
Imam Ali(a.s.) and the first probable night of Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr). As
per Islamic system of calendar the night of 19th Ramzan starts when
the fast of 18th Ramzan is completed in the evening.

19th Ramzan is the 19th of August in Thailand, Australia and Saudi
Arabia and it is the 20th of August in Pakistan. For other places,
please consult your local masjid/imambargah.

Shab-e-Zarbat of Imam Ali(a.s.)

This is the night of great diffiulty for the Ahl-e-Bait(a.s.) and all
momineen and mominaat. This evening of 40 Hijrah, as always, Imam
Ali(a.s.) only had salt and some water for iftar and from then on he
was busy throughout the night in prayers with tears rolling out of his
eyes.

He was repeatedly reciting "I have insufficient belongings for the
journey and the journey is too long" - referring to the forthcoming
journey towards his Lord(swt). The whole night, his children were
besides him and were amazed and guessing as to what was so special
about this night. They were to know about it only in the next morning
when the commander of the faithful and the Wali of Allah(swt) Imam
Ali(a.s.) was attacked during the fajr prayers by a munafiq and mal'on
ibn-e-Muljim(may Allah curse him) and fatally injured by a sword which
was dipped in poison. This was the time when Imam Ali(a.s.) uttered
his famous words : "Fuzto warab-il-Kaaba" - "By the Rab of Kaaba, I am
successful".

His sons Imam Hasan(a.s.), Imam Hussain(a.s.) together with close
companions of Imam Ali(a.s.) brought him to his house among tears and
cries. It was here that Imam Ali(a.s.) asked his friends to leave him
and asked his sons to take him inside the house where his daughters,
who had received the news of him being injured, were anxiously waiting
to see their father. Even during this period of hardship, Imam
Ali(a.s.) had so much care for his daughters that no one would hear
even their cries. But in Karbala, the daughters of Imam Ali(a.s.) and
Imam Hussain(a.s.) were brutally and savagely maltreated.

cruel tribe which committed atrocities on the Ahl-e-Bait(a.s.) of
Prophet Mohammad(sawaw).

Importance of this night
========================
Allah(swt) mentions in Surat-ul-Qadr in the Holy Quran - "Lailatul-
Qadr-e Khair-um-min-alf fish-shahr" - The (prayer of the) Night of
Qadr is better than (the prayers of) 1000 months. Allah(swt) also says
in the same Sura “Tanaz zalul mala-ikatahu war ruhu feeha be izni
rabbahim mil kulle amr salamun hiyya hatta matlayil fajr”. During this
night, angels descend from the heavens on our Holy Imam-e-Zamana(atfs)
and bring his Allah(swt) orders regarding affairs of the whole year to
follow and this process continues until dawn.

It is the night when the Holy Quran was sent to the holy heart of the
Holy Prophet(sawaw) as is recorded in the Sura Qadr in the Holy Quran
itself. It is related from various authentic sources that this night
is one of the 19th, 21st or the 23rd of Ramzan.

For the benefit of momineen and mominaat who are not comfortable with
reading Arabic, I have provided transliteration of all the duas.

May Allah(swt) grant opportunity and the urge to all momineen and
mominaat to extract best possible virtues in these Holy Nights of
Qadr.

The Prophet Mohammad(sawaw) and the Holy Imams(a.s.) have taught
momineen special prayers and duas to be recited in Shab-e-Qadr. The
site
now contains a link "Aamal of Shab-e-Qadr" on the main page
detailing those special prayers and duas. Kindly review them and
inform
other momineen and mominaat as well so that as many could benefit as
possibly can.

Here is a quick summary of the aamal :
1. Performing ghusl (bath) before Maghrib prayers and praying Maghrib
and Ishaa with ghusl.
2. Staying awake and busy in prayers throughout the night.
3. 2 Rakaat Prayer. Recitation of Sura Tawheed 7 times after Sura
Hamd
in each Rakaat.
4. Recitation of dua "Astaghfirullah ha wa atoub-o ileah" 70 times
after this Prayer.
5. Recitation of 100 Rakaat of Prayers. Prefereably pray 6 days of
QAZA
Prayers (Obligatory prayers which have been missed).
6. Recitation of Dua Makaram-il-Ikhlaq, Dua-e-Tauba, Dua Joshan-e-
Kabeer and Dua Joshan-e-Sagheer.
7. Recitation of Ziarat of Imam Hussain(a.s.) and Imam-e-
Zamana(a.s.).
8. Recitation of Sura Room, Sura Ankaboot, Sura Dukhkhan and
recitation
of as many duas and Suras as possible.

I pray that Allah(swt) grants the will and strength to all of us to
spend the whole night in prayers asking for forgiveness of our own
sins and those of our loved ones and the betterment of our life in
this world and the hereafter.
