Start of the new Islamic year of 1433 Hijri. Most places the 1st of
Muharram is the 27th of November whereas at other places it is the
28th of November 2011. Please confirm with you local masjid/
imambargah.
Some important events of this first month are as follows:
1st - Start of the new Islamic year 1433 A.H.
2nd - Arrival of Imam Hussain(a.s.) in Karbala - (61 A.H.)
7th - Water finished in the camp of Imam Hussain(a.s.) and tents moved
away from the Euphrates river - (61 A.H.)
10th - Day of Ashura - Martyrdom of Imam Hussain(a.s.) and his
companions - (61 A.H.)
12th - Soyem of the martyrs of Karbala (61 A.H.)
13th - Change of direction of Qibla from Baitul Maqdas to Kaaba - (2
A.H.)
17th – Attack of Abraha’s army on Khana-e-Kaaba (1 Aamul Feel)
25th – Martyrdom of Imam Zain-ul-Abideen(a.s.) – (95 A.H.)
