Hi Stefan, thanks for being the fastest responder on the zfs-fuse bandwagon! Of course, I had immediately notified the list.

I don't know whether users are filing bugs against ebuilds, but I have learnt that a number of users on gentoo have had issues with the new kstat mount feature. Effectively, this prevented them from mounting any filesystems. Some people reported it running slowly.

The cause then seems to be that zfs-fuse on gentoo is run as daemon, not root. Could you take a look? Here is the background information in order of relevance (I hope):

There is open bug in gentoo (
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=242390 ) since 2008-10 .

I suggest we either raise this bug again for zfs-fuse 0.6.9 or file a
new one.
