Hi,

How do I mount a zpool at startup?

I am able to start the zfs-fuse daemon when my Ubuntu 8.04 server
boots using an init.d script, but using a 'zfs mount -a' command does
not work. When I login this command does work, but i don't want to
have to type this everytime when starting my server.

As Fajar A. Nugraha noted i did have to create the /etc/zfs folder to
enable zfs to remember which pools are available.

Someone on freenode sent me the attached init script. I cc this mail
to the author, Bryan Donlan, as he would know it more than I do.

I think the "sleep 2" line before "zfs mount -a" is the main point.

I also attached my script to the list somewhere. Mine checks that ZFS
is running properly without the need for sleeps.

If you're referring to the scripts posted in
http://groups.google.com/group/zfs-fuse/browse_thread/thread/405087e6ea740b71,
they don't work on my system. Inserting "sleep 2" just before "zfs
mount -a," though, made everything work, presto!

...which leaves me wondering if your solution has any advantages over
Bryan's. Not being an initscript/filesystem guru (heck, I had to
manually set -x and stream the output of the script into a file just
to see what was going on -- where does one look for the log output??!)
I'm not really qualified to compare them, so I'd appreciate any
insight.

Thanks,
Dave
