From zen-kernel.org (2.6.33 series):

"bfq not merged, awaiting new version before 2.6.33 port"

I'd like to know if there are going to be new releases of the bfq code
anywhere soon... the sources directory on the official bfq website has
not been updated in ages (2008/2009).

Btw bfq was my i/o scheduler of choice, but now I wonder how it
compares to cfq after the latest patches (low_latency mode, queue
merging...)

Hi,
I'm Paolo, one of the authors of bfq. We have ported it to 2.6.33 some
months ago.
Unfortunately none of us has much time, so testing has been proceeding
slowly.
However, after a little tuning, we are apparently getting striking
results in terms of
latency. We hope we can release this new version in a week or two.

Excellent.

This is going to be available in the zen git (.34rc) version too,
right?

Yes we will merge it in once it becomes available.

Why don't you give us something so we can take a part in testing? :)

That is great news. I am looking forward to the new release. ;-)

Any news on the Zen version of the latest stable? I'm a little eager
to get my hands on it...

Just finished fighting against a memory leak and a very likeable
infinite loop with interrupts disabled ...
Guess how pleasant it has been to debug the latter :)
This morning I restarted the full bath of tests for a last (?) tuning
round (and hopefully not for finding any bug :) ).

Looks like there haven't been any updates in a while.... hope that
doesn't mean zen development is coming to an halt.

If the problems Paolo was talking about have been fixed, maybe at
least release an updated version of Zen for the new kernel so we don't
have to use the old 2.6.33 ?

Keep up the good work...

We have maintained bfq up to 2.6.32, but development slowed in general
and we never really got around to anything further.

2.6.34 zen-stable is actively in the works.

Are there any new updates for BFQ?

I finished running the tests, and I am writing down all the details
(facts discovered, changes made, ...) to let you know what I did during
these silent weeks. I hope this will be the last demanding task. Then I
want just to polish the code a little bit and prepare the patches.
