Audio issue

Assalamu alaikkum brothers and sisters,

First of all let me appreciate such a great move towards da'wa. May
Allah Subhanahu wa Tha'la guide us through the right path.

I am using zekr 1.0 and linux lucid(10.04).
I have installed zekr following the instructions given at
http://zekr.org/wiki/Installation#Install_A_Compatible_Java_JRE
The installation went fine with a success message.
I also installed shatri-64kbps-offline.recit.zip and shatri-128kbps-
online.properties (the one which i like the most)
That is the only one recitation that i installed. But when i try to
play the recitation it is not giving me any result. The play button
will be disabled for a few seconds (between 1 - 5 seconds) and it will
be enabled again without any audibles. Could you please help me to
rectify this issue?

Wa Alaikumassalaam wr wb,

I think you are trying to play an online recitation instead of the offline one. Playing online recitations with slow Internet connections may result in the similar behavior.

Are you sure, after installing offline recitation, you choose it from the list of recitations?

Make sure that you are using Sun JRE, and run Zekr wrapping it with padsp.

thanks for the update...
now i can see that with 'padsp zekr', the file is getting played (from the progress bar of the player)
but still there is no sound coming out. I can play the files using amarok.

at last the issue has been fixed.
steps:
$ sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-utils
$ padsp zekr &

Ahmed, seems that we should depend zekr package to pulseaudio-utils.
