Dear Moshe,

Thanks for yours.

My understnding of who will host the next SASF in 2011 is as follows:

i) Countries that had offered in Malawi (2006) to host SASF (i.e. Mozambique and South Africa) would be given priority to host SASF in 2011.

ii) DRC is a new country that declared interest to host SASF in 2011.

iii) Prerequisit for hosting SASF is that the host-country for the 2011 event should have held at least two national social forum ievents in to avoid hijacking of the sub-regional event by local interests. This gives contensting countries 2010 and 2011 in which they could host the national events before 6th edition of SASF.

iv) The contesting countries, especially SA, DRC and Mozambique have up to December in which to file in their interest to host 6th edition of SASF in 2011.

iv) Zambia would host SASF in 2011 if none of the three countries mentioned above are able to host.

So, with the above understanding I expect SASFROC to meet in 2010 in order to plan for 2011 events: i.e. 6th edition of SASF and WSF. But if the funds you are holding cannot be extended to next year, then let us have SASFROC over a weekend in mid-December 2009 (i.e. 12-13th).

Warm regards,

Sara

Dear comrades

It had been suggested that last week Friday should be  the dateline for showing interest to host the next SASF, and you are my witness that today its monday and there is nothing forthcoming, except that South Africa is still dicussing, as to how long they will be discussing the issue i am not sure? let me just indicate to you what this delay is creating;

1. We need to make hanover before start of Festive seasons, as most organisations will be closing amd most comrades wll not be available.
2.We need to plan the next activities for the hosting of thre SASF  and  start fundarining for the WSF participation, so that as SASF we can have meaning participation at this event.

3. Comrades had talked about a functional ROC, how do we strategise to ensure that we really have functional ROC when we can not even commit our selves on the next Host. we had planned to share the report of the SASF at the ROC even before  we  can send it to the Donors, how do we do this when we are not sure as to will be taking over from Lesotho.

4. I need your guidance on this issue.

hi comrades
will be out of the country as of today, and not accessing mail frequently.
I have not yet got any full response from SA coms on hosting SASF 2010 - they are discussing it. I understand that this is causing delays and stresses in the region, but...
Sara, please add these mail addresses to the list:
"molefe pilane" <molefe...@khanyacollege.org.za>,
"Mzimasi Mngeni" <mzi...@ilrig.org.za>,
<rass...@mjvn.co.za>,
These comrades are not necessarily the delegates to the list, but since i am leaving the country today, they should be able to follow the discussions on this list, and follow up on the issues.
Molefe, Mzi and Rassool - please could you all respond to the issues raised, including hosting sasf and delegates to this list. Please also share the info with other SA coms.

thanks and keep well.
comradely
Nerisha
