Winter painting holidays in Franschhoek

These type of holidays are sought-after overseas and there seems to be
little in this line in South Africa. I have pictures available of
artists and their work (plus short CVs), as well as
shots of Franschhoek, which I can let you have.

WINTER PAINTING HOLIDAYS IN FRANSCHHOEK

Give the artist in you full scope this winter - enroll for a painting
holiday in Franschhoek.

Seven of the Cape's most accomplished artists are offering a series of
workshops at the newly-established Franschhoek Art School between July
and September this year. Run is association with Winsor Newton from the
lovely guest house, L'Auberge Chanteclair, guests, whether beginner,
intermediate or experienced artist, will be able to enjoy four days of
expert tuition in glorious surroundings.

Highly experienced artists, including Wallace Hulley, Johan Coetzee and
Andrea Desmond-Smith will offer courses in watercolour and oils while
Theo Vorster will run a course in etchings and Lenie Harley in
sculpting. Classes are limited to 10 students to ensure individual
attention.

Rebecca and Peter Weaver of L'Auberge Chanteclair have pulled out all
stops to provide an excellent facility at their guest house, a step
which has been welcomed by the artist fraternity. Says Wallace Hulley:
"Painting holidays are enormously popular in Europe and we're hoping
that they will take off here too. Franschhoek with all it has to offer
is just the most ideal spot for combining art workshops with a really
good time."

Sumptuous accommodation is offered in the main farmhouse set among the
vineyards overlooking the Franschhoek Valley and includes a delicious
breakfast to start the day, picnic lunches, afternoon teas and wine
round a log fire in the evening. Guests as well as non-participating
partners will have plenty of time to enjoy the many amenities of
Franschhoek, from wine-tasting by horseback to exploring the town's rich
past and sampling the gourmet delights from some of the fine restaurants
in the valley.

The cost of this unique experience is R1 250 (five nights) plus tuition
fees, which vary depending on the artists, from R400 excluding materials
to R650 all inclusive. While preference will be given to "live-in"
students, "days" students too are welcome depending on availability. For
further information ring Rebecca Weaver on 021 876 3685.
