Custom Exporting

This is something which has bugged me for a while, and I finally did something about it.

There's a new option when exporting/printing now - Presets. You can create presets where you define which chapters are included when exporting, by dragging and dropping titles between two lists on the new setup form. Then you save the preset with a name, and when you print or export you can pick the preset.

First thing that comes to mind is that your .yw5 file (XML file) is damaged.
One way to recover would be to create a new project and copy your scenes to it.
Another would be to perform surgery on the .yw5 file, but that would be
challenging.

That's not the full file name. One of the strangest decisions Microsoft
ever made was to make Explorer default to showing only part of the name.
You also need to put the file extension into the img tag.

On Windows 7: open explorer, click Organize, then Folder and Search
Options.

On Windows XP: open Explorer, click Tools, Folder Options.

I have the same problem.Include

<img src="Hal3Launch10" />
/HTM>
in main program then export and include Hal3Launch10 in export folder. All
I get after exporting to html is a photo icon but no photo.
Any help is appreciated.

Unable to save "Locations"

Hello
I am using yWriter 5. Every time I add a new location and associate it to a
scene, the program can't load previously saved locations.
I looked at the XML file to see if the program actually saved location and
I saw the location in "LOCATIONS" tag.
But for a reason it can't read them from XML.

Curiosity question - why are you pasting so much text into yWriter? Obviously
you're not using yWriter's scene editor for doing your actual writing - why is
that?

Have you tried using the external editor for your pasting into the yWriter
scenes? Right click a scene and click Open content with default RTF editor.

No, they are not unused scenes. At first I thought it was because Word had
"track changes" turned on, and I hadn't accepted the changes, but that
doesn't seem to be the problem. The problem seems to be in yWriter. It is
driving me crazy.

I'm working on my second draft now -- I've actually started a new yWriter
project, to try to avoid the strikethrough problem.
But it doesn't work! I copy my text into the scene window, and it is all
struck through. I've tried pasting into plain text editors (notepad, yEdit,
or using Pure Text), then copying and pasting into yWrite, but it makes no

I have tried below put into editor, exported to html and put image into
export file and I still can't see the picture.

It may be simply a resource issue. Windows 8 Pro uses up a lot of valuable
real estate on a Tablet. Without knowing the specs of your Tablet it's
difficult to know for sure, but using a USB stick or Memory card can
release some resources that would otherwise fall to your existing RAM and
internal drive to use.

I'm running yWriter on a tablet running Windows 8 Pro. The only problem I
ran into is the fact that yWriter stops responding for some reason. Running
it off a USB works great, though.

I'm running yWriter locally on my tablet running Windows 8 Pro. Every time
I save a scene, yWriter stops responding and I have to End Task it. If I
run yWriter off a USB, I don't have this problem.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Windows 7 takes its information for the Jump lists from it's own registry
record record of which files were previously opened. The Jumps lists can be
cleared when housekeeping Windows. Windows doesn't access yWriter's
internal record to identify which files to add to a Quickstart icon's jump
list.

I can't replicate the initial problem. If I open an old project it gets put
on the Windows 7 task bar icon. Same if I just create a new project and
exit.

This is an installed version - not running off a USB stick or anything.
