Subject: YARRC Running - July 31st and August 1st

Runners,

I am not aware of any York County races this weekend, but check the website links on the attached calendar and also look for upcoming races to mark on your calendar.

Here are the plans for this weekend and updates on weekday runs, welcome one and all, any distance any pace, we want to see you out on the roads and/or trails.  Remember, we are prompt in starting these runs, so try to be there on time if you plan to run with the group.  If you know someone who is not on this e-mail, please share with them.  Please give feedback on these runs and recommendations for future runs (time, location, routes, etc.) to Doug Barnett (dbarnett1...@comcast.net<mailto:dbarnett1...@comcast.net> ) or Bob Breighner.

Regular Training runs and times.

SUNDAYS
7:00AM - BRILLHART STATION (rail trail parking lot). The distance run is somewhere between 6 miles to 11 miles. Call Hal Darr at 741-3693.

WEDNESDAYS - We meet every Wednesday at 5:30 PM behind the Colonial Shopping Center (across from the York Hospital). We leave to run at 5:45. There are several groups of various abilities so you're sure to find a run that fits you.

TRAINING ROUTES:  If you are looking for a new course to train on, visit the following site and use the online searchable database to find new routes. http://www.usatf.org/routes/search/

GOOGLE GROUPS:  A reminder that we have a Google Group set up for YARRC runners, if you would like to sign up.  Go to the Google Groups site and join YRRC.

RUNNING MATCHES:  If you are looking for runners at your pace and distance, consider signing up for our running matches program.  If you are interested in being added, please send me an e-mail with your average training pace and distance of runs.  After this mass e-mail, I will be sending e-mails to the runners that signed up in pace groups.  We are hoping the runners that find matches will plan to join the larger group at the weekend meeting locations and then head off in smaller groups at their own pace and distance.

PROMOTE:  Promote running in the York community.  Please share this information with your friends and family.  Also, if they would like to be added to the distribution list, let me know.

YARRC HISTORY:  If you haven't heard, YARRC has added an Archive page to our website.  Check it out.  We are continually adding old copies of newsletters and other information on the history of the YARRC.  The training articles, race results, and events are very interesting.

As always, YRRC, is open to the interests of our local runners.  A member has volunteered to coordinate pulling together race results to publish in our newsletter and we will also post on our website.  Please see e-mail below and if you have race results to share, contact Joe via his e-mail address joebrillh...@comcast.net<mailto:joebrillh...@comcast.net> and he will pull them together.

Thank you and happy running!

Subject: Re: Race Results you can believe in

Addressing both a membership decline issue and criticism that the newsletter "may be obsolete", farsighted Club officers have appointed this humble scribe to the newly created non salary, non-pensionable trial position of newsletter Race Results Coordinator and Column Writer.
We're going to test the theory that almost all runners, whether they be racers, joggers, fun runners, race every 3 years, or whatever, like to see detailed race results in print, and especially when it's THEIR NAME, and particularly when it's a PR or something unique. We also theorize that all runners, racers or not, enjoy belonging to a running club that puts them in the info loop of detailed race results.
Accordingly we're going to try to find space to condense, format and print as many meaningful race results as we can in upcoming Newsletters. Many local race results we hope to print in their entirety. Others, perhaps like the Turkey Trot and the Winter Series, whose voluminous results are usually readily printed elsewhere, may out of necessity get only age group winner listings. Particularly sought after are out of town results (e.g. have you heard about the bunch of guys that just ran Annapolis for the 17th time?). And in deference to our bi and tri friends, we even solicit multisport event results, provided that they included a running leg.
So, we are soliciting the assistance of all race directors, and runners of all sizes and descriptions, far and wide, to send me prompt and detailed electronic results from their participatory events, AND include a brief commentary on any unique feature or runner(s) at the event that would make interesting reading. Not the RD?  Send me YOUR data with commentary if that's the only way you can get it out. Note we will accept participation data on ALL local runners, Club members or not. RD's, our publicity may be the best thing going for you for your next event, so give up your stuff promptly, don't make me come after you!
See you in the Newsletter!
