My hard drive on my Mac is dying, so the technician is transferring my
Documents folder to the new hard drive.

It's a lifesaver to have Yojimbo on my iPad, because I have all my
data on it. I'm just a little worried however when it's time to sync
with a new install of Yojimbo on the computer.

Will the data from the iPad be transferred safely? The thought that it
won't makes me very nervous. I don't want to end up with no data at
all, in case the Mac version clears the data on the iPad...

Will it be OK?

Many thanks.

I've not tried it, but I'm not even sure that the iPad version will sync everything properly back to the Mac rather than from it - since you can't change data on the iPad, it may not be designed to do that at all. I expect somebody from BB will clarify that.

If all that is being transferred is the Documents folder, that won't transfer anything from Yojimbo to the new drive. You want to take a backup of the ~/Library/Application Support/Yojimbo folder from the old drive and copy that across. (I would take the whole Library folder too, personally - in fact I'd take as much of the old drive as possible.)

You are correct. It's not a two-way sync, it's a one-way push.

Agreed on both counts. The Yojimbo data location is correct, and I've also found that a surprising amount of other important stuff gets stored in ~/Library. If the drive is functioning at all, you should take as much of your home directory as possible.

Please make sure ASAP that he also transfers your Yojimbo data:

as well as any other important data you have which isn't stored in the
Documents folder. (Many apps, such as Apple Mail, also store their data in
other locations.)

Yojimbo for iPad only syncs data *from* your Mac, not back to it.
