[A note from the Food Committee concerning our upcoming all-day singing this Sunday!]

Dear Singing Friends –

Your Food Committee is confidently predicting that our small but spirited singing
community (and our generous friends) will provide a bounteous feast for our many guests
(and for ourselves) at the New Haven All Day Singing. Here are some things to keep in
mind in order to help things go as smoothly as possible:

1. There are no kitchen facilities available, so please bring your food ready to serve.
We recommend visiting the RI singers’ website http://www.ri-sacredharp.net/foodinfo.html
for information on keeping hot food hot.

2. It’s very helpful if you cut your food into serving-sized pieces before you pack it
up to bring to the singing. This will make it easier for people to serve themselves,
and will help move the food lines along so everyone has more time to enjoy their
dinner.

3. Some of our guests may have food allergies or food preferences – please consider
labeling your food (e.g., contains nuts, vegetarian, vegan, wheat-free, dairy-free)
to make it easier for them to find food that’s ok for them to eat. There will be
some labeling materials (e.g., stickies and/or food flags) available in the food
venue for your use.

4. Please be sure to mark your dishes and serving utensils – this will help ensure that
you get them back after the singing.

5. If you can’t cook food (for example, because you live in a dorm), please consider
one or more of the following options:
• Bring something to drink (juice, fizzy water, iced tea, soft drinks, etc.)
• Bring something that doesn’t need to be cooked (e.g., fruit, cut-up veggies and
dip, dessert).
• Volunteer to help set up and/or clean up the food venue.
• Volunteer to help people get their food contributions to and from the food
venue.

Thanks in advance for your contributions of food, time, and effort!
