Yipit API Improvements

Yipit API Users,

We are excited to announce some upcoming improvements to the Yipit
API. None of the updates below will require any changes to existing
implementations. Exact timing for roll-out of these changes is still
to be determined but they should be put into effect relatively soon.

1) We will be adding new deal sources that can be configured with API
partner affiliate accounts. We recently added Gilt City and Weforia
and there will be more coming in the very near future. The affiliate
system will function exactly as it does now, just with additional
partners.

2) Yipit is introducing "Deal Evaluation" pages for our email, web and
mobile users. These pages provide additional deal and merchant
information such as Yelp reviews, a location map, merchant deal
history, and more (see link below for an example). Internal testing
showed a positive impact as providing users with better deal
information makes deal buying decisions easier. These deal pages will
become the default deal URL through our API (API partner affiliate
credentials will pass through these pages). We will also make mobile
optimized versions of these pages available through the API.

3) Over the next few weeks, we will be putting significant resources
behind improving the performance and functionality of the API. As our
API user base has grown, heavier API call activity has resulted in
periodic slowdowns. We are in the process upgrading the API to make it
more efficient and easier to use.
