Greetings,

How did you first hear about Free Hugs? The JK Wedding Dance?Haul videos?

There are plenty of viral videos, internet memes and stories making the rounds, but what about the memes that cause us to vote for someone, buy something -- or buy less? How do those memes get started and get around?

With memeticist Lazlo Karafiath and DivX founder Jordan Greenhall, let's discuss:

  • What are memes? What role do they play in our interactions?
  • How do you study them? How do you start them?
  • What are the implications for marketing, politics and life in general?

As always, an IRC chat will be available during the call at #yitan.

We tweet as @yitan (and use #yitan as our hashtag). Please follow us on Twitter. This page is on the web here.
