Subject: Recent Category filter logic changes

Has there been an update to how the category_filter parameter works
recently (say within the last 2 months)?

Before I noticed it was AND logic, i.e. it found businesses that matched
all the categories specified
(I noticed the topic: 'APIv2: Category filter for search and response
changes' talked about this logic as well)
But now I notice OR logic, i.e. found businesses that matched any of the
specified categories.

Is this an official change or bug fix that finally got pushed through?

Thanks

Hi Matthew,

Could you provide an example query which appears to be using the OR logic?
 Thanks

Something like:
http://api.yelp.com/v2/search?term=&location=san%20francisco&sort=2&c...

Returns businesses with either the drugstores category or the icecream
category. None of the businesses have both categories.

I spoke with our search team, the category OR behavior is intentional.  Do
you remember what queries were showing AND logic previously?  That is
curious, and not an expected behavior.

I'll update the documentation to make this more clear, thanks for the
report.

Thanks Garrick, good to know that this is the intentional behavior.

I couldn't figure out what my previous query was, I think it was that, or
something obscure such that no business would have both categories (thus
return no results).
