Work on Metro line extension up to Noida Sec 62 to begin soon

The Noida authority on Tuesday cleared all technical hiccups pertaining to the proposed Metro line from City Centre to Sector 62. According to authority officials, the new route will now be constructed on the central verge of Master Plan 3 Road. Earlier, the route was planned on

the right side of the road's green belt.

"Since the electricity line exists above the green belt, we have shifted the Metro track to the road's central verge. Now the plan is final," said a senior official of Noida authority.

On Tuesday, chief executive officer Sanjeev Saran asked the water department to send the map of its proposed sewer line to be constructed between sectors 71 and 62 to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

"Once the DMRC adjusts the new sewer line in its detailed project report of this route, we will finalise the DPR," said Saran.

"We hold weekly meetings with agencies such as IGL, VSNL, RITES and all the departments concerned to clear the technical hurdles quickly. We hope that the DMRC starts work on the route soon," added CEO.

At present, City Center is the last Metro station in Noida, while the service covers parts of Ghaziabad with its separate link from Anand Vihar to Vaishali.

The proposed line between City Center Metro station and Sector 62 near Indirapuram in Ghaziabad will be a great relief to commuters from Noida and Ghaziabad.

To be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,805 crore, the extended route will have six stations at sectors 34/51, 71/72, 61, Mamura, Fortis, and Electronic City. The route will cater to the residents of about two dozen sectors in Noida and those of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad.
