Crucial week ahead for Noida Extension homebuyers

NOIDA: Homebuyers are keeping their fingers crossed for the week ahead
as decisions taken now would determine the future of their housing
units in Noida Extension. Even as the Greater Noida Authority has
claimed that it has convinced hundreds of farmers not to move the
Supreme Court, several others are ready to file petitions in the apex
court this week. The Authority also has a meeting scheduled with the
NCR Planning Board this week that would conclude whether buildings
would be constructed in Greater Noida.
"It's a crucial week for us. The future of our dream houses would be
shaped by various developments talking on different fronts this week,"
said secretary of Noida Extension Flat Buyers' Welfare Association
(NEFBWA), G L Sagar. "We hope that the sanctity of the Allahabad High
Court verdict is upheld and we get ownership of our houses in time,"
added Sagar.
Last week, the Authority convinced farmers from Noida Extension to
refrain from moving the apex court by promising settlement of abadi-
related issues and various developmental works to be undertaken in
villages. Teams of officials, along with BSP leaders, are visiting
each village in their bid to convince farmers.
"On Sunday, the abadi disputes in Bisrakh and Junpath villages were
settled. We are also making good progress in our discussions with Roja
Yakubpur and Aimnabad villages," said Gautam Buddh Nagar MP, Surendra
Nagar. "In most villages, 90 per cent of farmers are happy with the
high court's decision and are willing to settle," added Nagar.
From Tuesday, the Authority would begin disbursal of compensation.
"This time we will set up camps in each village and farmers need not
flock the Authority office for getting compensation," said Nagar.
The Authority also needs to cross the crucial hurdle of ratification
of its Master Plan 2021 by the NCR Planning Board. The high court had
ordered the Authority and allottees not to carry on development work
till observations and directions of the Board are incorporated in the
Master Plan.
