An Old stranger in the Mist (Topic Julius and Buti recent debates)
Firstly, I have long subscribed in this Forum, as a product of the
struggle for the liberation of our People , Im proud to say in the
Rustenburg Party Conference that discussed some of the issues raised by
many People. I attended it and I was one of the strongest movers of the
adoption of the re-launch of the Young communist League with Masondo,
Makuku many other Comrades and I believe I was the Last speaking on the
Subject representing on behalf of the Eastern Cape on Plenary. I believe
the video archives can testify to this development that cannot be
erased. Because this is history made. Iam raising this because history
is being distorted by many and history of these organisations is not
told correctly. I have been refusing to comment on the forum because Iam
an outsider. However I feel obliged to clarify other things.
The ANCYL has been my home for the Best part of my Political
Development , the current debate of the Yl and YCL can be traced in the Organizational report of the 2004 Nasrec Conference by Comrade Fikile
Mbalula . This discussion appears clearly on the Response of the Youth
league on the Cosatu anti privatization strike then. If You read this
discussion you will understand this dichotomy.
Many of the New comers may wonder what is happening, and are asking
question such as has there been a Relationship in these structure ever
since the 1994 Democratic Breakthrough and what kind of a relationship,
or have they been engage in a relation of convenience, this is what i
said to Both Cde Manamela and Mbalula that their alliance in 2005 was
an alliance of Convenience and was not based on any ideological and
principled basis.
The Polokwane Development missed a every important point, defining a
tactical relationship and strategic relationship. Now the true Colours
of what distinguish this important dialectical component and successful
relationship are beginning to show. The phase of evaluating the point of
convergence has arrived for the Polokwane forces and People are
beginning to ask important questions, amongst those questions, like the important question of responsibilities on who suppose to do what in this
relationship.
The Debate is not a Julius or Manamela Issue this is a long difficult
discussion since the beginning of this revolutionary alliance, People
who do not understand the basis of this revolutionary alliance Continue
to confuse the Roles, functions one structure against the other, mostly
because of state and power.
Your Current Problem is not the two individuals, your Problem is deeper
that two: What are these confused roles since the victory the*
revolutionary victory* in Polokwane.
*What should been defining a revolutionary national liberation
alliance is not personalities is the Political programe that serves as a
moral campus of our struggle against the oppression of the majority of
our People *Govan Mbeki*.
I must firstly say some of us we were so fortunate to spend a bit of
Time with the Giants of our liberation, Like Raymond Mhlaba and Govan
Mbeki, Sicelo Kani, Oom Sayi Mthongana, Communist Veteran Makalima and
Benson Fihla , Believe me or not we still learning from their
revolutionary action until today.
What was supposed to be the defining Task of these allies?
The definition of this relationship has always be the strategic
objectives of the NDR, the uplifment of the quality of life of all South
Africans especially the majority of whom are poor and female. Key to
this Programe is the working class that has a Task to win the
ideological confidence of all the Social Sectors to win the hegemony of
society, a Principle working class victory is not imposed or it will be
short leaved. What is basically lacking to the Debates raised by Cde
Malema and Manamela? Is to understand the Task of their organisations
respectively.
What was the Task of the Youth league I use to lead?
The Youth League of the party of the liberation must Champion the
Interest of the Youth in the ANC and society and contribute towards the
organisational vibrancy and youthful Political Debates in the movement
and seek to provide abridge between the present generation of youth and
older generation. The Recent Malema articulate on of the protection of
the legacy of the ANC are well placed and that must not be confused with
changing allegiances, Malema and Floyd are doing exactly the Task
assigned to them by the Constitution of the ANC.
Whether People Like it or not Thabo Mbeki was the President of the ANC,
You sleep but you wake up Thabo Mbeki is Still the Former President of
the ANC you cant re-write history. Cde Terror Lekota is part of the
legacy of the ANC, Robert Sobukwe and many more. The Youth League is
correct to protect its legacy, because the is no communist league
assigned to defend the Legacy of the ANC. Because they are not the
league of the ANC, they are the league of the Party. The Youth League is
the Sole future of the ANC, and it does not share that responsibility
with the young communist league. This New left is a left of the moment ,
therefore Julius Malema is correct the Party must focus in building its
structure and entrenching the Political Base of its members in
preparation of a socialist Society .
The ANC Youth derive its character form that of the ANC multi Class in
character. Therefore the Youth league is neither a Communist
organisation nor a capitalist organisation. It is not counter
revolutionary to liberal, Social Democrat or Communist in the ANC.
The Young Communist League
The Party has a vanguard role in the NDR; the responsibility is to
build the ideological confidence of the working class Youth in society
not only in the ANC. The Resolution of the Party Rustenburg Conference
was that we have to mobilise all socialist in South behind the Banner of
the Communist Party, eg Azapo , PAC , SAPO, later I think COPE if the
party is truly an international party. The Task the task therefore of
the Party is not to an agent of the ANC but a vanguard of those who do
not own means of production. The Challenge with the Young Communists
League is that its intention is to replace the Youth of a Nationalist
party by abdicating its responsibility for socialism. What might be
enticing the Youth of the Communist the answer is simple: opportunities
of Transition and Frantz Fanon elaborate on this on the Pitfalls of
National Consciousness. The more the Communists entrench themselves the
more they relax on their demands for the realization of a Socialist
Society.
The after Polokwane has presented growth in the Party membership, part
of this is not conscious members but members of convenience because
everybody wants to look left but walk right. In the Mbeki Era People
were very scared in wearing the Party T*-shirts and today it is
dominant. Most of these People have no idea of what learning communist
is suppose to understand. They have not been inducted to the philosophy
of the left but they are just communist for today.
Future Possibilities
Is the Battle between Manamela and Malema: No a big No, this battle is
an ideological battle and it is a UN reconcilable battle because this
represents the contradiction of Classes. Because with Polokwane the Left
felt in control of the state and Communist are occupying strategic
responsibilities and many are becoming comfortable with the state. The
nationalist, traditionalist ANC Cadre are being sidelined to the Cold.
Many nationalist inside and outside have hope in the articulations of
Malema as a possible Messiah to save the ANC from an unprincipled lumpen
proletariat that is disguised as the representatives of the of the
progressive left. These forces belief in the re-alignment of the outside
forces to defend the ANC from who the Communist.
The Communist believe that the Progressive left must assert it self and
eliminate any forces of dome, this has been shown by the recent defeat
of the traditionalist ANC candidates whether in the state or in the
organisation.
Julius Malema must be listened at he might seeing another development
of the re-alignment of forces in the near future.Iam 100% behind the
views expressed by Malema he is on the correct path .
I think people must not undermine Julius he is an organic Cadre of the

find contradictions on your input, chief you are saying you were the

you have told comrade Mbaks and Bhuti that this is an alliance of

Comrade Cabral always moved from the premise that we must, “tell no lies, and claim no easy victories” and I think that is just but one thing that our ‘Stranger’ (Nqaba Bhanga) can learn from this fearless revolutionary. In response to the bile that he posted here, I must admit that it would be a difficult exercise to talk to the issues that are raise by Nqaba without talking to him as an individual, who is a COPE member, but I will try. Marxism has taught us well that there is no one who can raise issues impartially without representing and or defending his or her own class interests and we for sure know the class interest that Nqaba is representing. Upon reading the post, it becomes apparent that despite his years in the movement Nqaba did not in anyway grasp the essence of the revolutionary alliance, if that is not so, he is clearly suffering from historical amnesia and the tragic accident that caused that is known to all of us. Our alliance is premised on the realisation of the Freedom Charter objectives, which the ANC/ ANC YL views as ultimate objective whilst the SACP/YCL, including COSATU views them as minimum goals towards the realisation of the ultimate objective, which is socialism. Failure to grasp this can be remedied with political education. Equally so, knowing this whilst intentionally distorting it is tantamount to political thuggery. Yes indeed the YCL is a youth wing of the SACP, but due to the nature of the alliance the YCL has the same interest in the direction the ANC takes because that direction is part of the realisation of its ultimate objectives. What Nqaba seems to suggest is that there was no reason for the alliance in the first place and that the alliance was just a mere unity of convenience. This is a clear historical distortion and similar to Nqaba, people who have held this view have either being expelled by the movement or left on their own. Turning the ANC into a narrow nationalist movement is a horrendous mistake to ever make and Cde Mbeki for sure knows that. Nqaba wrongly asserts, “The Polokwane Development missed a every (very) important point, defining a tactical relationship and strategic relationship.” This is wrong in that Polokwane adopted the Strategy and Tactics document that explains the nature of our struggle, more especially on how that struggle should be waged. It can be said that the Strategy and Tactics document is not a document of the alliance but of the ANC but it has clear linkages to the party programme, “South African Road to Socialism.” A person who cannot see this is either a narrow nationalist or an anti-communist; we can forgive those that did not give themselves enough time to read these documents. Nqaba fails to assert that the main problem here is between those who want to use the movement for personal enrichment and those that view this as a compromise on the programme and therefore intolerable. It is not a clear conflict between petty bourgeoisie/nationalist and communist, as many nationalist disagree with this ‘new tendency’. Yes indeed the divergent opinions from the YCL and ANC YL leaders must not be individualised, but they should be located within the broad scope of those who want to abuse state power and benefit from tenders (some nationalist) and those who believe that some of these acts are refocusing us from our strategic mission (communist, but not all of them). The battle is indeed ideological, but not in the narrow terms as Nqaba puts it, but because of those who disagreed with the 1996 class project not only because they were contra to its state looting and corrupt agenda, but only because they were not part of the abusing inner core and they therefore thought Polokwane brings the opportunity for looting, communist such as Gwede, Buti, Blade and others therefore become obstacles to this agenda, hence the rise of narrow nationalism and anti-communism. It’s similar to tribalism. Lest we forget that the ANC was formed to unite the people of South Africa. In my last contribution I was accused of not reading the post properly and since I am still undergoing political education I re-read the bile twice and I must say that comrades( Ndura Gceba and Derrick Speelman) have missed the point that our ‘Stranger’ (Nqaba Bhanga) is trying to make with this venomous contribution to this forum or maybe it is me who missed the whole story. When Nqaba says, “Julius Malema must be listened at (as) he might (be) seeing another development of the re-alignment of forces in the near future. I am 100% behind the views expressed by Malema, he is on the correct path,” I don’t think this necessarily means he is interested in returning to the National Liberation Movement. What he means is that if communist can be dislodged there are “Future Possibilities” for “re-alignment of forces”. This is anti-communism of the worst kind and as I said in my last contribution, like Nqaba, people who have held these views have either been expelled by the organisation or they left on their own. I don’t see anything suggested in the article other than the fact that if the ANC can be turned in a narrow nationalist political party rather than a broad liberation movement, there are “future possibilities” of realignment of forces. In addition if the name of the former ANC president, cde.Thabo Mbeki, did not feature in the engagements, Nqaba would have never been interested in the debate(s). To us he will remain an urgent of capitalism, with no political understanding beyond defending the former President of the Republic. I think comrades people who don't have something to say, which is
constructive to the forum should refrain from participating. Like
Comrade Luzuko, you are making this forum a platform to attack people
personally and I'm sure it is not the intention of this forum but rather
to engage in issues affecting us and the nation. Comrade VC is there no
way to first screen inputs of the comrades to the forum as I think some
are abusing the forum to vent their disappointments, anger and personal
attacks?

In my last contribution I was accused of not reading the post properly
and since I am still undergoing political education I re-read the bile
twice and I must say that comrades( Ndura Gceba and Derrick Speelman)
have missed the point that our 'Stranger' (Nqaba Bhanga) is trying to
make with this venomous contribution to this forum or maybe it is me who
missed the whole story. When Nqaba says, "Julius Malema must be listened
at (as) he might (be) seeing another development of the re-alignment of
forces in the near future. I am 100% behind the views expressed by
Malema, he is on the correct path," I don't think this necessarily means
he is interested in returning to the National Liberation Movement. What
he means is that if communist can be dislodged there are "Future
Possibilities" for "re-alignment of forces".
This is anti-communism of the worst kind and as I said in my last
contribution, like Nqaba, people who have held these views have either
been expelled by the organisation or they left on their own. I don't see
anything suggested in the article other than the fact that if the ANC
can be turned in a narrow nationalist political party rather than a
broad liberation movement, there are "future possibilities" of
realignment of forces. In addition if the name of the former ANC
president, cde.Thabo Mbeki, did not feature in the engagements, Nqaba
would have never been interested in the debate(s). To us he will remain
an urgent of capitalism, with no political understanding beyond
defending the former President of the Republic.

The problem here is not so much that there are people who play the man too
much. Those will always be there and we can cope with them in public.
The problem with this debate is that there are too few contributors to the
substance of the discussion. Even those who are in favour of more
substantial engagement are saying so, but not doing it. They are only
promising (or as Cde Maki Ndabeni used to say, "threatening") to contribute.
I think that when we get a few more definite opinions on the matter, we will
be fine, and comrades will not want to go back to the "ad hominem".

Cde Luzuko, does not have a Barometer to Judge who is anti Communist and anti communist and please do not reduced affiliation to nationalist Movements ,as a determining factor for approval to communist affiliation . Remember Communist are an internationalist Movement. " workers of the world unite you have nothing to lose but youth chains( Marx,ABC)
This is the most profound statement that defines the most important part of the international struggle of the working class. The working class has to be united for us to attain a throughly socialist society , that society is a collective society of all people.
The Party of Kotane ,Slovo,Govan Mbeki,Mhlaba was a party of high level of revolutionary Tolerance of Diverse views . I enjoy talking and engaging Communist because i subscribe to the Views of Marxism and Leninism and the only Marxist/ Leninist i know in South Africa , are members of the SACP .
Chief im not hostile to Mao ,Trosky and many other theories because iam a proud learning scholar of Marxism . Therefore you can opt for the labeling then its okay. What i know is that those who dont grasp with content ,opt for subjective reasoning.
