Information letter No. 4/11

Dear EuroDIGGERs   the dates for EuroDIG 2012 are confirmed for 14/15 June 2012 taking place in Stockholm! With this info letter we like to provide you some basic information and let you know how to participate in the Process.   1.       EuroDIG@IGF 2.       Milestones to Stockholm 3.       Call for topics and workshop proposal is now open! 4.       Related projects   ********************************************************************************     1. EuroDIG@IGF   EuroDIG was well presented at the 6th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Nairobi (booth, cross regional perspectives session and a workshop). In our WS we presented the “Messages of Belgrade” , evaluated achievements and further challenges, discussed the milestones to Stockholm 2012 (see below) and upcoming funding requirements. Read more about it and find transcripts at our website     2. Milestones to Stockholm Call for proposals and topics for the EuroDIG 2012 agenda until end of November 2011 Inventory of proposals and review by the core team (December 2011) Preparation meeting in Stockholm (January 2012). Preliminary decision on number of slots, plenaries and WS, proceedings, timing and other programming issues of EuroDIG 2012 by the core team (February – March 2012). Final decisions on Stockholm program incl. title, lead, focus/key questions, speakers etc. (April 2012). Registration opens (May 2012).   3. Call for topics and workshop proposals is now open!   One of the key messages in Nairobi was the call for next EuroDIG topics in Stockholm 2012. The call is open now and we invite all interested stakeholders, old and new actors or participants at EuroDIG to submit proposals for the Stockholm agenda in June 2012. For posting your ideas to the secretariat and core team, you can use the submission form on the website. The preliminary deadline is end of November 2011. According to the milestones, the core team will review all proposals in December to present a preliminary Stockholm program outline by the end of this year.   4. Hey dear Tim, dear all,

there is indeed the idea to propose a youth-focussed session and we need to start planning on this more concretely.

Last year, some youth organisations organised a pre-event and something similiar is planned for 2012 too.
A grant application has been submitted.
Several youth organisations (AEGEE, YEU, German Youth Press, JEF) together with the European Youth Forum
are on it to engage for the next EuroDIG2012 in Stockholm.

Any ideas on the thematic focus would be warmly welcomed, maybe alongside with strategic agenda setting in the
field of youth policies.

Hallo all

I think education is a major issue in terms of access and delivary methodes for Africa cuting across all levels of basic to high levels of education.This is one thematic area that I could recomend

The use of internet is very relvant to development and more youth from all over the world should get involved positively on ICT. For this reason involvement and participation of youth in international forums is important. Thre is need to lobby for sponsorship to enable youth from developing countries participation

I would definitely love to contribute to a forum like this, especially
with respect to accessibility and privacy issues in Africa, my
experience with the use of the Internet among high school
level-students, the potential for ICT4D and IG4D in Africa, etc.
Looking forward to learn more of sponsorship opportunities.

That is interesting because we are offering Secondary education to out of school youth through video conferencing. We are looking to other ICT methods of improving our services.
