Hey all,

IGF have just opened the 2012 call for workshops.

The call is here: http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/w2012 and is open until April 12th.

I drafted a workshop proposal last year on youth and IG* which was accepted and it was a fairly straightforward process. I'm not planning on putting anything in on youth issues this year due to time constraints - but happy to provide input to anyone who is new to the process and is planning to put in a proposal.

I suspect the Youth Coalition might also need to communicate with the secretariat to secure the Dynamic Coalition slot as well.

(Note: I have no official role in YCIG. I'm merely someone who tries to remember to send things round this list.)

All the best

Tim

Hi,
Thanks Tim for this information! It seems like yesterday that we were drafting proposals!
From the workshop we had, I remember that among other things that we resolved to have workshops on non youth topics (eg critical access, privacy, IP) but led by youth/ with a youth perspective.
I hope we have all been doing exciting things in our different areas and that we can have some workshops of this nature, led by youth, wouldn't that be exciting?
Looking forward!

Hello everyone!

I would like to echo Grace’s point about the need to engage with the substantive discussion at the IGF from a youth perspective. I will be glad to help putting together a proposal for a workshop dealing with issues such as intellectual property, privacy, or online safety (not limited to children or youth) from an intergenerational perspective. I don’t think I will have the time to lead something like that and more importantly, I think it is important that something like that is lead by a younger person than me.

I attended the youth workshop in Kenya and we should have the same in the future conference. The group should secure space and lobby for the conference to support more youth. The host contry should even do all they can and invite as many local youth as possible

Hello Jane

This is a really important point. Is anyone in this group in touch with youth networks in Baku or Azerbaijan who could be invited to join this list and to get involved? Or does anyone know if the host country have youth activities planned?

All the best

Tim

Hello Dear All,

I hope that my message finds you well. I would like to introduce
Yannis Li from dot Asia, she is also involved in Youth & IGF in ASIA
I had the opportunity to discuss with her during the last ICANN
meeting. Many youth from "Youth Asia & IG" were present last year in
Nairobi and they will also be present in Baku for the IGF12.

I think that we can a workshop together and discuss common concerns !!

Best,

Pascal
