OK this is just a touch bizarre

I copied a statechart from another machine to test out some behaviour and it simply will not open.

I use the standard file->open menu and it finds he file and appears to do something before it just immediately reverts to the screen as it was.

Hi Robert,

opening statecharts from the file system does not work. They have to be part of a project within the workspace. We will check how we can handle the situation more gracefully.

Regards,
Axel

Any updates on this?

It's really rather essential to be able to copy statecharts from machine to machine

We check in just the .sct,  .sgen  and .project files into source code control. On another machine, we check those out, and import the project into the workspace.

That doesn't work well at all.

I just tried it manually and it won't let me do it.  It complains that the project already exists in the workspace.

I would normally expect to have multiples of these open at once since  I would normally have several revision threads running.

I suspect that part of this is due to eclipse's strange rigidities but  still, it seems there should be a better method.  I really don't want to have eclipse litter workspaces all over the place just to edit statecharts.

Also if I delete the imported project (when working with another workspace), it then does not let me re-import the project saying it already exists.  It must be leaving items around even when deleted from the eclipse interface.

Robert,

We rely on the eclipse infrastructure and reuse eclipse concepts like natures and builders that require projects and a workspace.
If you want to use SCT you have to do it the eclipse way - your .sct files must be located in a project that is contained in a workspace.
Sorry for that.

Best regards,
Andreas

Hi Robert,

just select a project in the workspace (or create a new one) and choose ‚Import…‘ from the context menu, select file from the file system and then you can open the statechart.

Best regards,
Axel

That seems to work much better.

Live testing shortly.

Thanks,
Robert
