I have a question about the client for RedHat Enterprise Linux 5:

What is an obstacle that for RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 is not the
client (the package .rpm or / and .src.rpm) for XtreemFS?
After base Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 now includes the Filesystem in
Userspace (FUSE) kernel modules and user space utilities, allowing
users to install and run their own FUSE file systems on an unmodified
Red Hat Enterprise Linux kernel (bugzilla#457975).

Yours enthusiasts XtreemFS :-)

Hi Waldek,

We use the OpenSuSE Build Service to build RPM and DEB packages for all
Linux distributions. Since the Build Service reports that the packages
'fuse' and 'fuse-devel' are missing when trying to build RHEL5 binaries,
I suspect that they still use VMs with versions < 5.4. In case they
update the build service, I will let you know when an RHEL distribution
of the XtreemFS client becomes available. For now, I suggest to build
the binaries from the source distribution.

Best regards,
Jan
