The network license still includes 5 Batch.
So a network license of Softimage 2011 is like "Advanced".
A standalone license of Softimage 2011, of course, does not include Batch.

Pricing and Availability
Autodesk anticipates that Softimage 2011 will be available in English and Japanese in April 2010. The Autodesk suggested retail price (SRP) for an Autodesk Softimage 2011 stand-alone license is US$2,995.* The price to upgrade from Softimage 2010 to Softimage 2011 is $1,495*† SRP. Autodesk Subscription with Gold Support is available for purchase simultaneously with the product or upgrade purchase for $795 SRP per year.
* International pricing may vary.
† The price to upgrade from Softimage Advanced 2010 to Softimage 2011 is $295 SRP.
A network license is usually about 750$ more than standalone, so the list price of Network is probably $3,745.

Look on the wiki. Tons new ones, many from Phil's ICE pack but other
new ones too. None the less, any new compounds are always welcomed.

Can you recommend a good Maya mailing list?

Yes, Chris. It hurts.
I could have easily finished shading that one yesterday,
http://www.hafenlola.com/downloads/ley_q7shadingprecomp.jpg
if not for all the crashes and bugs I ran into.
With corrupted files, references and whatnot.
Now I´ll have to spend another day being afraid
of a crash when simply assigning a factory shader, haha.
Cheers
tim
P.S: Don´t mind the contrast and the alphaedges, it´s pre-comp
slaptoghering...not tuned yet.
Why is there a clear disparity between the positioning of Max and Maya
vs Softimage on the Autodesk site. Both Max and Maya have accessible
videos showing off their new features, Softimage does not. It's
product positioning puts it beneath mudvox. wtf? The videos are out
there, but not linked from the Autodesk site. Whatever the actual
reason for this, it comes across as a snub towards the Software.
If I was a purchaser in a larger organisation, this marketing would
not help sell the idea that Softimage is being as actively developed
as it is, and effectively think that Soft is an underdog, or poor mans
version.
I've invested a lot of money into Soft, and as a customer, I want to
see that Autodesk actually do the job of showing it off to make sure
it survives and prospers. It is very good, and is making huge strides,
way beyond the other two apps, but this is far from how the Autodesk
site makes me feel about it.
Stephen, Any input on this?

Thanks for ICE
Thanks for FaceRobot.
I might actually end up being able to rig and animate something?
Na, but now theres less excuses!

I can't wait to try rigging with ICE. I'd love to see some more advanced
setups with foot roll and forearm twist setups. Any ideas if we can bypass
up vectors using ice?
If we are really getting upgraded to 5 batch licenses, I'm going to need to

1.) I thought I remembered a while back that XSI would not work properly in widnows 7 classic (non-areo) mode? Is that still the case? If it is, that could pose problems, cause our workgroup policies turn off all the fancy ui stuff by default.
2.) It seems like when we install python on win7, it's installed for the user your logged in as? If we install it as admin, it doesn’t' work for the users unless we log in and install as the user. And then if another user logs in to the same machine, python wont work for them until we install it under their name. Hopefully there is something obvious we are missing.

Standards are wonderfull, that's why we have so many of them
This is the way it goes here :
1- you will have problems in Soft 2010 SP1 and Win7 classic mode, mostly anim editor refresh issues.
AFAIK, classic mode is not supported anymore by Soft.
2- try installing Python or ActivePython via an msi installer with ALLUSERS=1 command line flag.
Cannot wait to get Python inside Soft 2011...
Hope this helps,

As far as I understand it Blur's open source toolkit allows you use
PyQt inside xsi, but Steven can probably confirm / deny that. I
haven't been able to test this as it's currently 32bit only.
