I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was an awesome experience. Pure visual
spectacle! Kudos with a side of awesomesauce to everyone involved.

Are any of the TDs allowed to talk a little more about the technical
side of the movie yet now that it's out? I'd love to hear about the
challenges involved, the awesome feathers, Soft pipeline, etc.

I saw Raff's name in the credits and I was like "I kind of know that
guy!!", hehe.

ps: The only thing I disliked was the pop song by Owl City stuck in
the middle of an otherwise perfectly orchestrally scored film. It felt
out of place.

Hi guys,

the jet-set globetrotter Ive become, Ive managed to mix up
my dates, ending up two days late at the frontdesk of nhb
here in Hamburg. Note that coming in late is embarassing
enough but in the form of two full days can at least only
be taken with a good sense of humour. Thanks girls, youre welcome...

What did I miss? How was Mari looking, what happen?

Cheers

There's no musical numbers by the actual characters; it's just a pop
song playing for one minute in the background during a happy montage.

No musical in there, and no mocap either! That was a welcome change :-)
The prod was mixed Maya for modelling/layout/fx/lighting and XSI for riggin/anim. Feather system was a completely proprietary system called Quill (you can see the name in the credits :-), with bridges for Maya, XSI and PRMan.
Not sure what we can say on top of that, except that there are *many* amazing people on this list that contributed to the result, and for those who left, we hope we can see you back here soon for some more fun!

Cheers,

Aloys

What an amazing film. SO many incredible shots but the scenes with the raindrops into the vortex and the fire and I could go on… just absolutely amazing. Hats off to those teams.
