I think it's will be nice to add filter bar to playlist, like in
Amarok 1.4. Also the important thing is separator between albums in
playlist. Now, if I add all albums of one artist it's difficult to
understand where is end of one album and beginning of second. Option
to hide album art is, in my opinion, important to (interface would be
look much clearly)

Here i create a little mockup using pixmaps from other mockup's:

Dear Retsim,
much of the stuff you are proposing does not fit into the concept of xnoise:
- Filtering on the tracklist doesn't really make sense in my eyes. Filtering is available for the media sources side.
- Having a kind of seperator for albums would destroy the whole track centric concept, because you could not reorder the tracks like you want.

You maybe could convince me with the hiding of the album art for the currently played track.

I think, filtering is very important in big collections, because make
possible quick find needed track (in case when you remember only the
name of the track without artist name/etc). As a compromise, search
bar may look like a pop-up, like in browsers, so it will not spoil
current UI

About separator: yes, track centric concept is a good idea, so maybe
make separators as default-disabled option? Or a plugin? It's really
helpful in case of navigation in big collections.

Album art may be a option to. Also, it would be great to show up full-
size cover after double-click on a icon

Thank for fast reply!

WBR, Retsim.

P.S Also, sorry for my bad english(

Hi there:

I'm a former Amarok user that now is looking for the perfect audio player for GNOME Shell, and Xnois seems to go in that direction.

I support the Retsim's idea about separators because it doesn't conflict with the track centric concept. In Amarok 2 those separators are available only if two or more songs of the same album are one after the other, and you still can rearrange the queue, so it's not necessary to enable/disable this behavior. Anyway, I don't thing it is critical feature. I have others on mind, so I'll send a new email soon.

Cheers from Chile, and sorry for my English.

Dear Tae,

my problem is not the lack of new ideas for design or features.
My problem is the number of contributors who do actual work for xnoise's code base.
I don't have much time, so if you can implement this feature, please do so. I'll be happy to get some help.
To do this, you will have to make changes to the TrackList and TrackListModel.

Best Regards

Hi!

I will glad to help, but I don't know anything about Vala, so it could
take a while. If you know some good beginners guide please tell me. I
found the GNOME documentation annoying and my programming background
is more related with Objective-C, iOS apps and the really good Apple
documentation.

Cheers.

Hello
Devhelp is for documentation. libgtk-3-doc, etc. are packages that
contain documentation.
Regexxer is good to search through the source code to be able to
understand how things are working.
Glade is a ui builder that helps understandin the gtk container concept.
Vala tutorials and sample code can be found here:
https://live.gnome.org/Vala/Documentation
Best Regards
