Hi,

I'm a complete newbie...but I wanted to report install/startup
troubles on Mac OSX 10.5.6:
I downloaded the following:
xnd_v0.7_macosx_carbon_x86.zip,
unzipped it and clicked on the application...it did not appear to
start.
I could not find evidence of it with ps.
I could not find evidence of it with activity monitor.
I tried several times to get it to start by clicking on the app...but
it just seems to disappear.
I even tried dragging the whole folder over to the Applications dir.

I checked my java:
[seth:local/bin/3DSlicer] dpat% java -version
java version "1.5.0_16"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_16-
b06-284)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_16-133, mixed mode, sharing)

I checked for updates to Java, but there were none.

There is no workspace directory, nor any .log file I can see on the
mac version.
I do NOT have eclipse installed, nor do I have developer tools
installed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dianne,

Please check if <xnd folder>/xnd.app/Contents/MacOS/xnd file has
"execute" permission, and try running it from terminal - let me know
what console output you get.
If you need more detail on this please let me know.

Dianne,

The following should fix the problem:

1. Open terminal application
2. Assuming run the command, "chmod +x <xnd installation folder>/
xnd.app/Contents/MacOS/xnd", for instance if you extract xnd into
"xnd" folder on your desktop, the command will look like: ""chmod +x ~/
Desktop/xnd/xnd.app/Contents/MacOS/xnd"

Sorry for this inconvenience.
