Does anybody already met this problem?
PDF processed with Dynamic Print in Indesign are correct. But the same
campaign in uProduce process incorrect result in PDF.
The problem is about space between characters (I'm sorry I don't know
the exactly term in English, in french the term is "approche"). In the
PDF processed with uProduce the space between the characters are
reduced, some space characters disappear completely...
The fonts are correctly installed on uProduce. The only error message
after process is
"The design contains overlapping elements whose cumulative area is
fairly high. This may create printing problems. Try to reduce the
number of overlapping elements in the design if printing errors
occur."
But I have already had this message in other process and never this
problem.
Somes questions, however:
* are you using the same InDesign version on your workstation and on
the server?
* how did you install the fonts on the server? With a Windows legacy
workflow (by installing them in C:\Windows\Fonts) or through the
uProduce Dashboard?
* what type of font is it? (TrueType? OpenType? Type 1? Other?)
* have you noticed a difference between Proof and Process on uProduce?
* have you tried to produce some PostScript (instead of PDF) and
either Distill the PostScript, or try to print from PostScript?

1- We're using InDesign CS4 v6.0.4 on workstation and InDesign Server
CS4 on uProduce
2- The fonts have been installed through uProduce by the dpkg
3- The fonts are TrueType and OpenType, but the same are used in other
projets with no problem
4- The problem is similar with Proof and Process
5- We have tried a PS, distilled it and printed it and... the problem
is similar.
Finally we have produced the print on the workstation. But we search
to fix the problem because the product will be similar the next month.

Do you have/use extension servers for production? We have seen some odd
behavior with fonts dynamically moving to the extension servers with current
uProduce 4.6.1 (and previous as well).

Thanks for your help to try to find the solution. I had hoped that
someone have already met this problem for having a rapid solution. So
I'm going to try Xerox Support...
Wish me good luck!

Denis-
Are the words like "office" appearing correctly? Or does it merely
write "of ce"? The f and i are merged together to make one character.
If so, it is a "Ligatures" issue. You can disable ligatures in the
paragraph palette "flyout menu".
I have seen your issue several times and it has to do with the fonts
not containing the character set.
Another thing, when you create samples to test on desktop and server
you will want to select more than 10 records so that it will more
closely simulate production.

I supplement this discussion to confirm you that problem was resolved
with the help of the XEROX support.
Problem was really an error of beginner(!). The font used in the
document was not uploaded on the uProduce Dashboard in spite of the
use of CPKG.
However a question remains: why uProduce did not signal us the absence
of this police at the time of production as he makes it to us
habitually by a Job Message? XEROX confirmed me that they're going to
investigate on this phenomenon...
