It has been quite some time since XMind 3.2.1 was released (1.5
years?), so when can we expect an update to 3.3 to address all the
problems in XMind?

Problems I see:
1. Display of nodes in different (drill-down) views doesn't match up.
For instance, at the top-level, a 3rd level node might show as an
underline whereas, if I drill down, the node might show as a rounded-
ellipse. Confusing.

2. The browser setting can be internal or external. It also needs an
"external to XMind" setting so that, when I go to XMind.net, my
favorite browser popups separately from XMind. The current browser in
an XMind window only works partially.

3. A better way of managing the settings on a per-level basis would be
nice. That is, I'd like to specify "Thin" for all edges at the 1st
level, but "Thinnest" for all edges at the 3rd level.

4. A printable, GANTT chart would be nice with enhanced options on
format.

5. MapShot doesn't appear to do anything (at least for me).

I'm sure others could chime in with more problems.

Xmind's co-founder Stephen Zhu has recently told me (via an email
response to a question) that Xmind is still in development with an
undisclosed (unknown) release date.

I'm fairly new to Xmind, but have put the program through its paces
over the last several weeks, attempting to organized my full plate of
projects (fairly complex business projects). My conclusion to-date is
that I'm impressed w/ Xmind's graphical style and interface and with
the ability to link to sub-maps, etc. Conceptually, Xmind is in the
top 3 mind mapping programs list for me at that level -- the level of
"I like what I see, but...". Alas, there are bugs (markers get lost
and disappear... reported for over a year), and missing features that
limit Xmind's effectiveness for *real world* business use.

But... the big missing part... where's the corresponding iPhone/
Android app that enables portability of the information? And,
where's the information and communication from the developer that this
program is *really* in development? No published roadmap. No
proactive communications from the developer. Leaves me skeptical
while the rest of the competition is zooming ahead with richer feature
sets, web browser editors, and PHONE APPS!

My two cents.

The iThoughts application (particularly iThoughtsHD for iPad) is
largely compatible with XMind. However, the problems with XMind
become much more apparent when moving back and forth.

Another problem -- once you go through entering all the TaskInfo onto
your mindmap, there does not appear to be an option to export it in
any form (PDF, TXT, HTML, etc.) that you could then hand to your
manager so that he knows what your plan will be.

I'm very disappointed in XMind and XMind Pro! This complaint about
task information was made more than 2 years ago (you can see the
messages pinned to this Google group) and it's still a problem! With
service like this, they should not be charging for the Pro version.

For what it's worth, I've used MindMap everyday for the last year, and
I'm interested in purchasing the Pro version. However, while I can
understand taking time to produce quality updates (if that's in fact
what's going on here), I won't make the investment for XMind Pro until
I start to see this software updated regularly (though not necessarily
frequently). Once I see updates and better communication as to when
and how often updates will arrive, my 50 bucks a year is yours!
