XBee 2.4ghz wifi with Android

Is it possible to have an android directly connect to a xbee 2.4ghz
with either the android running in ad-hoc or the xbee running in ad-
hoc? I have a project that I am trying to create a android app that
will send commands by means of a character and possibly send files to
a xbee attached to an arduino uno board. I also have the wireless
shield but I am thinking of connecting the xbee directly to the uno
via pins 2,3 and 10.

Look at Android Open Accessory Dev Kit. That will get you Android to Arduino and then the XBee part is straightforward
