I am not having much luck doing what I want with Xaos. Other people
seem to like it, which is fine, but I have no use for it. How do I get
rid of it? It is not listed in "Remove Programs". Using Windows 7.

Xaos works fine under Linux.

Why don't you remove your Microsoft Windows?

Delete Windows and move to Linux? Right. Please only post useful
suggestions. I do not want to waste my time with smirking nonsense.
Your suggestion would be like abandoning my car because a tire is
flat.

Ho, a troll :)
he never said xaos wasn't working correctly on his windows, he just
said that he had no use for it.
Linux won't solve this problem :)

btw, why don't your reply *after* the original message ? ;)

Okay. We had a some banter and a little fun. But not a single
suggestion as to how to uninstall. I tried to find a solution on
sourceforge but no luck.

There should be an uninstall icon under the XaoS folder in your start
menu.

There is no uninstall icon. As a matter of fact, the word "uninstall"
does not appear anywhere, or at least I cannot find it. The help menu
does not contain anything about that option. Thanks for the
suggestion. This is beginning to bug me a bit. If it had occurred to
me that anybody would make software of this type available without an
option to uninstall, I never would have downloaded it. I have a
terabyte hard drive, so it isn't like I need the space. But with
hardware and software undergoing constant change, the option to remove
something that is not needed should always be available.

use you find files / directories type xaos or whatever it says you
should give enough

info to delete files and directories - make note of some of the names
and try running

them down like you suspect other folders elsewhere other than where the program

(list) folder is located - find out how big it is and see if all the

folders match . i wonder if another install would get the uninstall -

i was using an older version of ubuntu on an older machine - so cant
say the user exp was fab.

FYI - i saw this to
Fractal Fr0st 1.2 released

I suppose I could track down the day I installed it and just delete
everything from that day. You really cannot tell much from file names,
though. Sure, Xaos.exe would be easy to recognize. But there are, I am
sure, other files that came with it and there will be no clue from the
file name what they really are. It is possible another install would
bring an uninstall option with it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I haven't bothered much with Windows for a long time, but I always
found that everything tended to be installed to the same directory.
Something like "C:\Program Files\XaoS". In this case since there isn't
an uninstall option, it's more likely that whoever packaged it up for
windows put everything there. All you would have to do is delete that
directory, and then the start menu launcher, and that's it.

Keep in mind that XaoS isn't a strictly Windows program, and whoever
made the windows package is doing it voluntarily. If windows had a
proper package management system like most Linux distributions then
there wouldn't be a problem. I would wager that most users of XaoS on
Linux get it from their distribution's software repository, and can
uninstall it easily from there.

I think I found all the files and deleted them. Xaos.exe was easy, but
I found other files files in at least 3 different locations. If a
couple of links that lead to a dead end are still around, and they
probably are, I will find them some day. For now, it is effectively
gone.

Windows does a dreadful job of uninstalling a program. It is a rare program that is uninstalled by windows that removes all trace of itself from the central registry. You will be amazed at the amount of junk found in the registry. This in one of the the reasons that people reinstall windows.

For best results you must use a program such as "Easy Cleaner" from Toni Arts that uninstalls the selected program and removes registry entries at the same time. This is one of the best and it is free. It has no problem in getting rid of a program that has lost its uninstaller.

Can anyone tell me what the largest image render that can be achieved with XaoS and how to set the render size for image export???  Many Thanks.
