OCSO Shooting

He was shot, but they do not know who did it. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death that took place around two a.m. at a home in Dorcas. The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Thomas Rangeley, a visitor at the home. His permanent address was yet available.

Deputies called to the scene on County Road 393 say they found Rangeley inside the trailer with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was still alive when deputies arrived. He was transported to North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview but did not survive the injury. Investigators are interviewing witnesses to determine the sequence of events leading up to the shooting.

Okaloosa Accident

About 4:15pm Saturday afternoon, a 2012 Nissan Xtrerra. driven by 24-year-old Joshua Charles Ray of Crestview, was entering the southbound lane of Highway 85 from Auburn Road. A truck, driven by 43-year-old Anthony Long of Crestview, was travelling south on Highway 85. At the first vehicle entered the highway, it drove into the path of the second. There were no injuries in the first vehicle, including none to the one-year-old passenger and only minor injuries to the driver of the second. Everyone was wearing seat belts. Ray was charged with violation of right of way.

The Chautauqua Learn and Serve Charter School is going to Walton the Difference on Monday, May 13th from 8:30 am-1 pm at Lake DeFuniak. The students at the school recently learned that some people across the world have to walk 3 hours just to get water, not even clean water. The students decided that they are blessed to have clean water at their fingertips, so they decided to Walk the Difference and see what it would be like to have to walk 3 hours to clean water. They are accepting donations for MyCharity: Water, an organization that helps people access clean water. For more information, call 333-0399.
