Hello,
I recently installed ubuntu karmic (kubuntu actually) and wxpython from wx repo using jaunty (deb http://apt.wxwidgets.org/ jaunty-wx main)

When trying to start the pgadmin3 utility I get this dump:

pgadmin3: relocation error: pgadmin3: symbol _ZN21wxMemoryFSHandlerBase19AddFileWithMimeTypeERK8wxStringPKvmS2_, version WXU_2.8 not defined in file libwx_baseu-2.8.so.0 with link time reference

The standard install using ubuntu wx packages runs without problems

Any ideas?

There may be some configuration or build difference between the stock
ubuntu packages and the ones I built that results in a binary
incompatibility. The stock package is the same version as the latest in
the wx repository, so there really isn't any reason to not use the stock
packages.

Thanks Robin,
I imagined something like that.

I solved by rebuilding pgadmin3 from source using wxpython repo and
now it works well
I wanted to keep the "bleeding edge" wxpython so now I know what to do

It's nice to learn something new every once in a while

Hello,
I have the same error in Ubuntu Lucid 10 (uptodate) and the last wxPython.

I compile from sources pgadmin3 but its not running... so any idea about
what can I do? I dont want to downgrade to the by default ubuntu
wxpython pacjages...

hi,

same here, I can't recompile pgadmin as using the configure prefix to
specify's PSQL's install location won't work.

Hello,
I just discover: when you finish the pgadmin compile and you try in the
console pgadmin3 I receipt an error an nothing happen.. but if try
directly::

/usr/local/pgadmin3/bin/pgadmin3

the pgadmin3 runs very well... I have Ubuntu Lucid.

Hmm... Sounds like some binary incompatibility has crept in. When I
get some time I'll see if I can track down the cause of the problem.
