I've updloaded new portfiles for the MacPorts distribution to the
files area. These portfiles have also been submitted and should be
pushed to the MacPorts distribution in the next few days (weeks!).

The file is called "MacPorts radlib-2.8.5 wview-5.7.1.zip"

Hey Brooks.

I've been wondering if you have had any success lately with your uptime-preserving/resilience code that we talked about a few weeks ago.

I seem to have narrowed the problem down to a faulty network jack on my end that is cutting in and out periodically and sending htmlgend and wviewd to the looney bin while the other daemons happily continue on (wviewftpd being one).

isn't procmon supposed to notice this stuff?

Cheers for your help.

The problem I have is with the USB connection dropping on VP2 console.
I had resolved the issue on my old machine by using iron cores on the
power and USB cables.

When I upgraded to a new Mac Mini recently, though, the problem
started again.

Davis now admits to the problem and suggests that the issue is with a
noisy power supply. Their recommended "fix" is to disconnect the power
supply to the console and run it off of battery power. Supposedly, the
batteries will last up to a year. I'm giving this a try now.

The updated portfiles have been committed to the MacPorts
distribution. To update, just do:

sudo port selfupdate

then

sudo port -u upgrade outdated

(Note: if upgrading from 4.x or earlier versions, you should uninstall
wview and radlib, then reinstall them.)
