I had my weather station running fine without problems but
I just moved my sites to a dedicated (ubuntu 12.04) server and WVIEW stopped working, WVIEW computer in /var/log/syslog says
"Apr 23 12:51:15 ubuntu wviewftpd[23656]: <1366710675816> : FTP-ERROR: curl_easy_perform failed: couldn't connect to host"

I gave WVIEW the FTP credentials from root account to see what happens but same problem

is there any idea? thank you in advance for any replies

Did you change versions of wview?  That might be an issue with passive mode. Or a firewall problem. You might want to try to manually ftp via the command line with and without passive mode to test.

Here is  a similar issue, while it turned out to be at the ISP, some of the troubleshooting techniques might help you.

same version of WVIEW.
FIREWALL inactive

It's not ISPs problem but hosting server problem.
On host server I
apt-get install vsftpd
edited
nano /etc/vsftpd.conf
that can ftp
pam_service_name=ftp

and now the response at syslog of WVIEW computer is
FTP-ERROR: curl_easy_perform failed: Failed FTP upload: 550

I think a 550 error is probably a ftp permission type error. Check the permissions on the destination files and directories to make sure your ftp user has delete/write permissions.? Have you tried manually ftping does that work?

Make sure on your ftp host that vsftpd.conf has

# Uncomment this to enable any form of FTP write command.
write_enable=YES
