Is there any way to increase the wait time for an FTP login session -
I think I'm having timeouts when my host gets under heavy load.

i haven't been following.
i spent 10 secs just now RTFMing and see options -r and -q on tnftp - these don't help?

Your response is kindly and truly appreciated even if you are a bit
condescending to me. I am delighted that you found a good answer in
ten seconds - apparently I'm not as smart or as creative as you are.
It really didn't occur to me that I should have looked at tnftp
options or I certainly wouldn't have bothered the forum.
It is one of my life's primary goals to never ask a dumb question,
unfortunately I still have a lot of work ahead of me.

John, as a beginner (for several years!) I feel the same way as you. I know I will be asking questions that are seen as "dumb" by some people on the list, and that makes me reluctant to pose questions. But I ask that those "experts" keep in mind that that they, too at some point did not know it all. While I appreciate the time that people spend to help out and couldn't manage without that help, I don't appreciate the attitude that occasionally comes with the advice.
The "attitude", in my opinion, takes away from the "free" aspect of Linux - the sharing of a great system that allows us to do so much.
