The First Congregational Church of Webster Groves is interested in
having a cappella groups put on concerts in their sanctuary. It also
has a Casavant organ and a piano if (Deke forbid) you'd want to have
accompaniment. The front of the sanctuary has portable pallets that
can be removed or rearranged to be a stage. They will forgo fees if
your groups is non-profit. For more info, contact Wim Blees

Help me to help you. Spread the word about this calendar. This service
is free to anyone with email or WWW access. If you are having a concert,
include an ad in your program about the calendar or mention the calendar
during the show. The more people who see the calendar, the more it will
spread the word about your events.
When you buy a ticket for one of these shows, tell 'em you heard about
it through this calendar. More exposure will lead to more people sending
in dates, more people seeing a cappella shows...
Listen to "Lotsa A Cappella" with Marjie Kennedy and Rick Yakamo every
Sunday 8-10am, on KDHX 88.1 FM. If your group would be interested in
singing live on the air, email them (voi...@concentric.net). They are
always looking for a cappella recordings to play as well. I will pass
on event info to them to announce on the air (unless you don't want me to!).
Many of you may be familiar with the Musi-Cal WWW search, where you
enter in a group name, a genre, and/or a city, and it spits out
concert dates that fit those parameters. It a great set up, but it
requires submissions in a specific format. Being a med student, I
don't have time to re-enter all of the dates into their format, but
it would be great if someone would do it. Email me if you're interested.
Auditions (by appointment):
Pieces of 8," a St. Louis based professional, full time a cappella octet, is
auditioning for a new bass/bass baritone. The position offers a monthly
salary, touring (per diems), and television and radio performances. The group
will be producing a new, full length recording in January. 1998 tours include
a February run in NC/FL/GA and New York in April.
Applicants should have a strong vocal technique (we sing our butts off!),
strong musicianship skills (incl. sight-reading, rhythmic-reading), great
memorization skills, and the ability to work in a tightly-knit, intense and
advanced a cappella environment! Some movement experience would be helpful.
