Subject: Notebook Error
I get an error when I try to activate Notebook indicating that
connection to the database failed. I have registered OpenOffice.
Shouldn´t the database be registered?

Thanks,
Phil Bunch

Hi Phil,

Yes, the database should be registered with OpenOffice.org as shown in
the attached screenshot. The supplied User Guide explains how to do
this.

Kind regards,
Dmitri

I can´t find the WriterDB database to register it. I did a search in
my C: drive on WriterDb and got nothing.

Hi Phil,

If the database is registered properly, everything should work. Can
you describe exactly how you registered the WriterDB database? Which
version of OpenOffice.org are you using? On what platform (Linux,
Windows)?

Kind regards,
Dmitri

I created a directory in OOo program file. Then I went through the
procedure you published for registering a db. Tools-Options-OOo Base-
Databases-Highlighted WriterDB and hit Ok. The WriterDB file now shows
in that window. I also changed my default browser to Firefox as
recommended in the User´s Guide.

I am using OOo 3.1.0 in Windows 7

Hi Phil,

OK, I did some testing and it looks like this issue is specific to
Windows 7. Here is a fix that worked for me. Open the WriterDB.odb
files and use the File -> Save As command to save the database under
another name (for example "WriterToolsDB.odb"). Now register the new
database in OpenOffice.org as described in the user guide. This should
solve the problem. Let me know if this works for you.

Kind regards,
Dmitri

Ok. It tried to run but came to a Basic error and highlighted the
following line:

SelectedSnippet=ThisDoc.getCurrentController().getSelection().getByIndex(0) .getString()

I need to know two things: 1) you exact steps that lead to the error,
2) the error message itself.

Kind regards,
Dmitri
