Since I'm not running Windows at home I'm 99.99999% sure I wasn't hit by
a virus. I rebooted the router so I know it's not that. There is plenty
of hard drive space (a couple of hundred GB) and loads of RAM. It's a
new Quad Core so there should be no speed issues. 'Tis a puzzlement...
Still I'm pretty sure the problem isn't on my end.

I can't confirm his Windows observation but Kubuntu installed on a
second computer has the same problems.

sounds like DDos to me, I have no problems here at this end of the city.
If it was just you I'd say it was someone rerouting your traffic, i.e.
sniffing
I was using Bittorrent for most of last week. By no means was I maxing
out the connection speed. The day after my download stopped the speed is
back to normal. I wonder if Shaw is trying to tell us Bittorrent is
verboten?
