Who's on Wave?
Hi, Google seems to be catching up with the long list of applicants as I received my invite a few days ago. Anybody else on Wave? Also, does anybody want an invite? Cheers, Bob

The B&N e-book reader versus the eReader reader
I have a problem with my e-books. I can't keep up with my reading. I am now more than half way through "Anathem" and am enjoying it overall. But in the time I have been reading it I have learned about several new books, all available, in electronic format, that I really want to read. Among those are... more »

Nook and ereader.com NOT compatible?
FYI: I just got an email from Barnes & Noble letting me know that my eReader.com-purchased books are NOT compatible with nook. "At this time, the Barnes & Noble eReader is only compatible with purchases made from Barnes & Noble or Fictionwise." I responded requesting clarification, seeing as how the device specifications clearly state that eReader is... more »

B&N Enters the Ebook reader market with the "Nook"
I just was looking at the announcement of the "Nook", the new ebook reader from Barns & Noble. It has a couple of interesting features but basically seems to be a "me-too" product. It costs $258 and uses E-Ink technology for its main display. It has a second strip display at the bottom that is full color that bsically shows... more »

Two encouraging stories
I came across a couple of positive smartphone stories this morning, that cheered me up for a few minutes. Palm attempts to be more developer-friendly, and also announces that it will wave fees for open source developers. Looks like they'll still charge you $50 for each FLOSS Pre app you want to list, though.... more »

This article gets a couple of things wrong
Ho-hum. Another article about the "napsterization" of e-books. Shock, horror. Alarums and excursions. Mr. Stross is only the latest of many to notice that, if more people are reading e-books, e-book "piracy" might actually damage the industry. The jury is out on that, but it is something worth thinking... more »
