I have another set of template changes ready to roll out.

http://worknotes.scripting.com/march2012/3812ByDw/definingTheMainTemplate/

However, I haven't received much feedback on the last set. I am hesitant to roll these out before knowing the others didn't break your installation, because if I get a report after rolling these out, it'll be hard to know what caused the breakage.

So if you haven't checked to see if your worldoutline is still working, could you please do that now and report the results.

Debugging this stuff is hard work, harder for me than for anyone else. Help make it a little easier. Thanks.

Dave

I'm making a pass through my different nodes.  It looks like there's an issue with code nodes. http://worldoutline.tedchoward.com/test/growlsuite/init

The templates feature release didnt coincide well with work I had here.

Today's decks are cleared.

There was no breakage that was apparent, but I'd need an hour or so to really look.

I also need to wrap my head around all of this.

Coffee is going to help.

This was documented breakage caused by a change made last month.

Everything else looks fine, except that my 'video2' node never rendered as a hyperlink.

The last item on this page should be a link: http://worldoutline.tedchoward.com/test

Maybe there's a misunderstanding about what "never rendered as a hyperlink" means.

A screen shot might help.

No problem, I understand. And I appreciate how you stay with the project, rain or shine.

Maybe we should do a podcast after you get some coffee.

Thats a good idea, especially since I believe I have something important running on my server that possibly qualifies under the "breakage" section of your worknote.

Shall we say 1 hour from now I call you on Skype?

Sorry, context probably helps too. (I also need coffee)

video2 is my custom nodetype that I created yesterday when testing the new template stuff.

Okay, re 1 hour from now, but if you can get it together sooner, that would be helpful to me.

Okay well I interpreted it in a completely different way.

It's not going to get a link because it's not a "link" nodetype.

Why would you think it should get a link?

Also, when you report these kinds of problems, misunderstandings can be avoided by providing a snippet of OPML, as OPML that I can download and open in my outliner.

We're really going to have to tighten up this process, or bug fixing is going to be like pulling teeth. :-(

First, to answer your question about why I expect a link. I expect a link because I can navigate to http://worldoutline.tedchoward.com/test/video2 and see the rendering of my 'video2' node. Should it not have be rendered as a link in it's parent?

And now for some opml:
I created a new outline that only has the video node:

It's included in my world outline here: http://worldoutline.tedchoward.com/test/videoNodes

I copied my video2 template into an outline here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3369718/opml/video2_template.opml

Thanks for the info. Now I have a much better idea of what's going on.
